Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

Agreed! Navigating this market has been tough for all of us. I believe there is also a lack of training/mentoring programs in place which is also resulting in higher experience requirements in the accounting profession right now. Everyone is super busy and has their hands tied, they don't have time to train new skills and develop their staff (horrible). Making a pivot to a smaller firm, which can have a heavier focus on employee development, might be something to consider!
Yes the training in accounting is absolutely horrendous. All my other friends in other fields don’t have it as bad.
I just left consulting for industry and want to say you may have wlb but ppl in industry are dumb as rocks sometimes and way behind in their business knowledge and experience. Leaders are easily threatened by faster and more innovative people from rigorous career paths and sometimes unwilling to think strategically or grasp your ideas. I hope you have a diff experience
I've worked with so many dumb people at or from big 4 and with so many bright people at industry.
The market - even for accountants - is by most accounts rough right now.
It is likely not you.
Hi! What type of work are you focused on? Are you niche in a specific area? Also, what type of work are you looking for in your next position? The market has shifted drastically and hiring companies are tightening up on having specific experience for a role. Sometimes it can be best to do something similar to the work you're doing now, but at a company that can also give you the exposure you are looking for to help morph you into the type of work you're most interested in!
As others mentioned, the market isn’t great right now.
I wish I had a job in one of the big 4, I have only worked in governments (US and Nicaragua) and while it is somehow rewarding, it is also stressful to deal with people do not know what they are doing, but insist that it is the way it has always been done.
I have tried to get a job in private companies and it has become an impossible mission so far.
Have you had the conversation with the executives you work with to talk through your interest in exiting the firm? I know it sounds like an uncomfortable conversation, but I’ve seen many instances where leaders are understanding and appreciate the honest conversation about your long term goals. Assuming you’re a good performer, leaders will coach you through your job hunt and use their network to help find you a new role.
Hello I am looking for part time job or volunteer work in accounting filed. I have more than 6 year of experience in my country. I also worked with accounting software like zero, quickbook, pos.
What state are you in? If you are in GA, our CPA firm is looking for a tax accountant
I had a lot of help from applying to jobs that were on linked in through recruiters about a year and a half ago. Left public accounting after 5 years at a small firm to do fund accounting at a private equity firm. The WLB is definitely a lot better
I work in mid-size tax. Our interviews take place earlier in the year and we're staffed up by Thanksgiving. We hire temp help if we need it Jan to April. If you need to get out and can afford to consider a temp job or speaking to a recruiter. When the season is over we know we need more staff because we hired Temps. So good Temps are offered full time before we start the interview process May to August
Interesting…I’m a partner in a firm in Calgary and I’m looking for people. We’re not a large firm but we can offer a manager/partnership path. Can’t find anyone for an intermediate or senior role (about 2+ years of experience in public practice would be awesome). I feel the exact opposite - there‘s a huge lack of employees out there.
That’s in Canada though, the pay is awful there
