I’ve always politely declined counter offers for the same reason I haven’t changed my mind about break-ups (not at least since college) when promises of improved behavior or changed conditions suddenly appear when the other the other party realizes I really am moving on but the needle had never moved in earlier discussions: because if they really wanted a continued relationship they would have invested in the relationship before the end of it was right in front of them. What your current job is doing isn’t a sudden understanding of retention – it’s the panic of knowing they have to fill a position, which in healthcare is almost certainly already shortstaffed, in a timeframe they don’t have the control over. It is not an indication of how they view your worth, and if they will treat you better in the future.

I accepted a counter offer and I have regrets. They stuck by the schedule change for a while but then they made cuts and took it away.... So now here I sit in golden handcuffs because they had also bumped my pay up and I can't find any other job that would pay me this well.
Go where they treat you the best and meet your needs. You found the other job, now start looking again. This co is taking you for granted Again.
I would advise against taking the counter offer for reasons already expressed. Your current employer is reacting in panic mode. You have no guarantees that everything you are being promised will stay that way.
Run!! If your company did not see your worth then they never will. Trust me I stayed with a company 11 years for the money, the flexible schedule but what it cost me was my physcial and mental health. I was truamatized, abused and taken advantage of. I finally moved on and I have bben Blessed beyond measure. Even though I make less money I know that my company values me I searched many many years to find a place where I am seen. Take my advice STICK with your original to leave. You were not valued when you were there. Remember that! One more thing they can take away what they give. BEWARE
Yup. You're a valuable commodity. I would try to get a counter offer with the other guy now too. You owe no one anything except yourself when it comes to the job market. Haggle.
This just happened to me, and I declined. Why? Because when they do it under pressure you have to think like they will. They will resent you. You forced them to do something they were not willing to do. I moved and I am happy now at the new job that pays me more and value my opinion more. Move and you won't regret it most likely. Stay and you probably will regret it in the near future. Good luck.
If you take the counter offer, it just provides your current employer an opportunity to post your position, hire somebody else and then terminate you. At that point you lose that on both. If they didn’t see value and you before you had an offer, that should tell you all you need to know
Run!!!! Go to the new company. I stayed with a company when I was younger for the same reasons that they kept promising things only when it suited them. When I finally realized things would never change they attempted to completely defame me so nobody else would want to hire me. Other employees saw through it too so as I packed my bags, so did several other employees. They didn’t see your worth until it was going to make them have to put in a little extra work on their end. They really don’t care about you, and 99% of jobs never will. They just don’t want to have to put the effort in to rehire and retrain someone new.
I would take the incredible offer you have from the other employer. There is always a catch that you need to worry about. Your current employer is all of a sudden nice but this marriage may not last for long.
My previous employer gave me a $12 raise to stay. I did, and almost immediately, the mandated shifts started. They said I couldn't go anywhere else, and make that much money (true), so either I worked shifts that were 16 hours or longer, or I could quit. I stayed 6 more months, but I didn't have a life and I was physically and mentally exhausted. I would say, if you're going to stay, get it all in writing, but I had mine in writing and they said so what.
Stop
Its the only way to get a real raise since the annual raises of 2-3 percent dont even cover the cost of living increase
I have never been in this situation however there is a lot to think about. Did your original job know you were unhappy? When it comes to what to do....think of growth in a private clinic compared to your other job. Not sure if it's a big hospital or? Good luck. I bet it also feels good for your current job to value you and not want you to walk away.
Head to the clinic! The hospital recognized how valued you were and it took some place else offering you more for them to realize you…. Move on, its time!
Never accept a counter-offer. If they truly valued you and your work, they would have equalized that with a salary bump in the beginning.
Good question- is the provider known to be crass or indifferent to end of life treatment? Prolonged suffering is not an appropriate action. Not sure what you can do as you don't want retaliation from this person.
Yes
Yes they offered me weekend option great pay x4 days off every week I stayed after accepting other job 🤷
Stick with your plan. You wouldn’t have started looking if you thought things would change!!!
I would decline in a very professional manner and go with your new offer at the private clinic, they (your present employer) will keep you until they find your replacement and then they will find a reason to let you go.
