I lost a parent recently and flew to india from the US, took the week of dec 14th off, planning to get back Jan 2nd week. The recent UK bans have me a little worried that something similar may happen in the US. Anyone recently flown from India to NYC willing to share your experience? Also, does EY have a bereavement leave policy i should charge my time to? or does it all go to vacation? Also for context, how much time off is considered okay in such situations?

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.
