I miss her 🥺

It’s been 3 years since I (27F) moved to Seattle and still don’t have a solid social circle. Not necessarily a big group… I’m talking 3-4 friends who are easy going and not flakey/ hard to make plans with.

Idk if it’s due to Covid, Seattle freeze, a combination of the two or other factors. Any transplants out there who are NOT the outdoorsy type and feel the same? And if so, how did you get past it?

I can't wait for things to get back to normal. For my kids to go to school. To see my family again. To travel overseas and explore. To not worry if I accidentally bump into someone. I feel like my kids are missing out on the magic of school (they were in kg and 1st grade when the initial shutdown started). I didn't get to see my nephew and niece since they were born, haven't seen my sister in 5 years (our family reunion got cancelled this summer). That is all. Hoping for a better year.

Do you guys ever feel like you're 'too Asian' in the workplace but 'not Asian enough' when it comes to family/friends? My morals are rooted in Asian traditions, but can't speak my native language well

I don't have any friends in banglore. It is hard for me to find friends cause i am always that aloof kid who in addition is not straight so can't even bond with my teammates. How do people live like this. Even my flatmates don't talk . : (

I was giving my kid the advice that the path you sometimes believe you are on is not necessarily where you will land, in a good way, and to stay open to those paths.

What did you THINK you were going to do when you started college, and what do you do today?

I try to mentally play it off like I don’t care or only go where you’re wanted, but it sometimes stings when a group of friends hang out and don’t invite you. Makes you wonder why or what I do?

I have a student who only comes to school two days a week and then only for 1 hour. He tells me I have to pass him so it doesn't matter. This is very frustrating. I knew this student hates school and often states he is stupid. I just do my best to encourage him. Build confidence. Any ideas to encourage him more? By the way, taking to his parent does nothing.

Why do we always tell people “Be the best version of yourself before starting a relationship?”
I feel this is wrong…first, if you’re someone who constantly wants to be better, this doesn’t work. Also, what happens when you’re going through things and you’re not the best version? What happens is…the going gets tough and then one person leaves the other.

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

Mom of two here (21 month old and 5 month old) who is starting to consider having a third. I am in my late 30’s and my doctor just recommended I start trying at 6 months postpartum. I have an associate's degree in graphic design and work designing wedding stationery. I've been at my company since 2016, and am now a design consultant - speaking to customers directly and creating custom artwork and designs for them. I know I'm underpaid (50k/year in the SF Bay Area) but I thought the benefits and stability were worth it. Can I just vent on how annoyed I am with the increase in “priority boarding” of people that are able bodied? I am happy to let them on first. But I think they should get off last. So many times they are limping or in a wheelchair boarding. And then when we land that are the first to jump up and scurry off. Just not ethical.
