Hi everyone, I am 4.9 years experienced , I joined Fractal 3 months ago as a data engineer, but still haven't got any project. Process is so slow that I have received only 4 to 5 project calls. I switched in hopes that will learn the new tech and tools. But now i am starting to forget even the one i knew. Should i go for change or wait a little more time as fractal is reputed in AI/ML? I have interview lined up with Impetus as for now. Would it be better choice?
Is the CFE pretty easy?

100% agree. If you ever want to leave for industry, manager and below is the time to do it.
I general, yes it is harder, but let’s be honest when looking for jobs in accounting with almost 0% unemployment, being harder is still ver attainable.
It’s true ideal time is 3-5 years
My former manager left as an SM and easily go into assistant controller role at a fund. I don’t think it limits your opportunities.
Same with seniors
Recruiters aren't always honest but this one is telling you the truth here
Might be best to leave relatively early or relatively late. I left in my Director years for CAO. Maybe SM is just an awkward spot -overqualified for some roles, underqualified for others.
I’d say it 100% depends what you want to do. I did this (9 years) - I got all the interviews for the technical accounting roles / SEC reporting. The top tier jobs for those roles want people with minimum SM experience and you have a much quicker pathway to leadership. The problem was, I wanted to do something different and pivot a bit. That’s where it was tough - if you want to be an assistant controller, do FP&A, finance transformation, etc. you’re going to be better having industry experience first and people are more willing to take that chance when you have 3-6 years experience before they start thinking you’re overqualified. With that being said, I was lucky enough to find a company that was looking for a person from PA to do FP&A and have now transitioned into an M&A integration accounting role and couldn’t be happier.
Depends on you industry specialization, your age, your geographic location, your network, and if your partners will help place you. I tried and ended up staying in public. Happy to jump on a call and share my experience. DM me!
Better to leave as manager but I left as SM and was fine
Yes. Around 90% I’ve received have salaries lower than my current salary.
