Holy shit fellow 🐠🐠 -- boarding SFO-ORD, and TSA is rechecking everyone's ID/boarding pass *and* doing a visual bag scan, on the gangway, after you scan your phone, before the plane. Two questions:
Interested in a San Francisco/Bay Area networking/support group for consultants that have been laid off? See comments for more details
Got an offer at a startup with 130 base. I can choose between SF and SLC. I think I’d prefer SLC just because I’m scared about how expensive SF is. How is the gay life in SLC like especially for a 23 yo poc?
Can more experienced associates exit into PE? I’m looking at a PE associate roll in a pension fund but I’m Already 30-35. Have an MBA as well…

That time when your partners start a utilization contest where for 2 weeks of crazy hours might get you a Starbucks gift card
Just need to let off steam. My MIL said to me today that my husband must be really happy with me "now that I learned to cook". Omg. She told me not to bother applying for jobs back when I was because I'd soon be home with the kids 🙈 I have to bite my tongue SO hard. Just me dealing with this generational nonsense?!
Beginning to be concerned that new first years are going to be making more than me after my raise (A2)... Does this ever actually happen?
Has anyone made the move to Uber, specifically the operations and logistics manager position? Received and offer with less salary (but decent equity) and trying to weigh options and lifestyle.
I have an interview with a "biglaw" firm tomorrow afternoon-- any last minute tips or advice from those who work in big firms? I'm a 6th year associate and have never worked at a firm with more than 5 other attorneys. The interview is going to be with a panel of "at least" three partners and the pressure is on.
Do any of you work in PE and have a learning disability like dyscalculia and/or ADHD? If so, how do you cope with it? Does anyone know?
Thinking of switching to different B4 Firm, any suggestions on which one to steer clear of?

Has anyone worked with or working in Mindset Consulting? Need some clarity on work culture and WLB.
I have roughly 1.5 YOE at a top 10 firm, half in audit half in TAS, no CPA. I’ve applied to and received referrals for pretty much all big 4 and other 10 firms. For the ones who gave me a phone screen or first round interview, I was told they’d like me to have more YOE before considering me. Yet I see folks on here with 1.5 YOE in just audit getting senior roles in TAS at these same firms. I believe I’m personable and decent at interviewing. Any ideas on why I’m not getting any offers?
So all the cut for vision 2020 - why don’t we just ask everyone to buy promotion? That way vision 2020 will come sooner
Leadership and development Trainer (s)- we are promoting a few people who had not been managers in the past to managerial roles, does anyone know a leadership training company or specialist who can develo a leadership training tailored to specific corporate needs?
Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there. I feel like I spend every week counting down to the weekend which kinda sucks.
I just read this crazy article about how poorly ad agencies treat people who are struggling with mental illness and other health issues. The person’s boss called them during minor surgery several times (which they knew they were having), to ask about budget pacing. Link to the article here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/surviving-big-agency-mental-health-story-jonathan-jono-decosta What can we do to stop such toxic behaviors? Why does health, both physical and mental, not matter to these ad agencies? I’m curious if anyone else has similar tales. What agency do you think this was at?
