At this level, severance is best thought of as a settlement. You’re selling your rights to sue. It’s cheaper to pay severance than deal with a frivolous L&E suit.
Severance and for cause termination are generally contractually, so it’s all dependent on the facts and existing agreements. But typically no they don’t unless the company wants a release.
why would u be fired for cause in a big law job? That’d be a pretty high bar (which could then be contested anyway in a demand letter / suit)
what constitutes that in ur opinion? that’s a pretty high bar

In a typical employment agreement there is no severance for cause terminations. It is still possible that the company might offer something in exchange for a release.
Depends on the cause and the company.
