Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

How long ago was the felony? After 7 years most background checks won’t go back that far bc states like Massachusetts and California limit background checks to the last 7 years. Florida companies can go back 15 years. So figure out the background checks laws and once 7 years have passed focus your efforts on national companies that will have standardized background check vs Florida based companies that will go way back as far as they can.
In the meantime look for work outside financial services because it’s gonna be really strict
That’s like a basic check after 5 years shows nothing but enhanced/super enhanced shows everything (uk based)
Hi Joseph, this sounds really tough sorry to hear that.
Can I suggest you change you Linkedin profile significantly. The picture is quite intimidating, getting someone else to take a photo where you are smiling and approachable may help. The commentary wording comes across as more of a philisophical stance that a professional profile. Appreciate you have a slightly tougher story to tell however emphasizing the positive is key to selling your self. A good way to start could be to put what experience and strengths you have into chat GPT and asking it to create a profile for your. Ask it to craft something that would appeal to your target audience e.g. Ship work. From that point recraft it to be more authentic to your voice, but stay positive.
Best of luck with the search.
Also I would not address the conviction in the profile. This is a hurdle to be handled in a tactful context specific way, not leaving others to make their conclusions.
Our President is a convicted felon - recommend you look for jobs in government/Republican politics. Maybe you can get a pardon.
Have you checked with your local re-employment office?

They said I can never work in finance I've had multiple finance jobs….. I don't apply when they super enhance check you only basic checks….the felony was more than 10 years ago
Walmart hires felons.
So does the current Administration.
Sounds like life is pushing you towards your own business. I work with a brokerage that I'm building my own agency with. Certain felonies are not permitted because of fraud and integrity, but some are. Even that I have to work a side job to afford the learning curve and afford leads. You said yourself you are a hard worker, so remember, you have everything inherently in you to get through this.
My felony has nothing to do with theft, destruction of property it was not even violent again I was innocent but that does not matter all that matter is is I am trying to find a job.
I am interested in what you were saying and would like to hear more I would like to work on my own but I don't think I am ready for it probably need training wheels
Get your CDL license some trucking companies hire with a felony record.

Are you eligible/have you considered the Federal Bond Program? It makes a convicted felon much more employable than one who hasn't gone through the program.
Dunno how it is in usa but over here in uk, you kind of know when they gonna do a basic check….. Only underwriters+ get enhanced chec…… I got. Laid off fro, one insurance company as they found that info out….i already did checks with the agency and then the company wanted to do their own checks….. I knew after that it's was a wrap….. And it was
What skills did you learn while you inside to use when you got out? Have you looked at electrician, HVAC, welding? The Careersource usually has a line on some training and apprenticeships you can start with.
Due to my felony and the way to college is conductor businesses I do not qualify
I cannot comment with advice. I have a family member who will be in your same situation. As I read your post explaining your situation and what you are up against it numbed me.
If I had the financial backing and time I would seek out jobs for folks like yourself. You deserve to be able to work and use your knowledge. It is satisfying to work and fill your day as a active participant in life. I get lost in my job because I enjoy it so much. I will pray you will find an employer who will look at the contributions you can make to their company. For you the joy of working and making a living.
You're either going to have to struggle for a while in a low paying job then start your own operation or start something if you already have the funds, however, there are plenty of work you can perform that pays well enough
I’m a felon…. You think that’s on my cv? And I’ve worked in insurance roles since 2012 and keep working in them.. if you’re in for more than I think 2 years it’s stayed on your file for 10years…. I went to prison twice firsy time in 2-12 for 5 months then second time in 2014 for 8 weeks….. I shouldn’t be in insurance but I know how to finesse the system TO MY ADVANTAGE (uk based)
Find your local workforce program run by the state of FL. They can help you get something. Every state has a resource for those with background issues. Search for WIOA programs. There are even tax credits that employers can get if they hire someone with background issues.
I gave him the local link for his area. 🔼
Globe Life/AIL hires felons
Do you tell them upfront or something? Do you apply for jobs that enhance/super enhance check you? Why not go a different route. I wanted to be a stockbroker and I went prison…. Then I came out and worked in insurance. They only enhance/super enhance check you on certain roles… you have to know the ins and outs and do they advertise ‘enhance check will be carried out’ I knew I could never work in finance so I pivoted to insurance….. I’ve dodged so many roles where they ‘enhance check you’ basic check shows nothing because they time has been spent……
In the US? You don't have to prove your innocence. The prosecution has to prove your guilt. Talk to a lawyer about getting red flag stuff removed from searchable records if you feel you were wrongfully convicted.
I realize this doesn't help you now, but legal expenses are prohibitive for all of us. That's why I recently turned to - and started offering - Legal Shield. Interested in having coverage or in becoming an associate? Let me know.
That is tough. I can’t imagine the situation you are in. Even if you were guilty, you should still be given options to rehabilitate and succeed in life. I think some people thrive off of seeing other people pushed down. Good luck. Hope the best for you. Try using ChatGPT and see if that gives you any answers.
