I’m a tax senior working in big 4. What are my options other than going to a in-house tax department? If I plan to leave public accounting eventually, is now a good timing? I mean with the job market and my current title?

Oh my sweet summer child. Options other than tax? None.

likehelpfulfunny

The longer you stay the higher the odds of being very pigeonholed in tax imo

THIS

Only other options are govt or possibly becoming a business unit leader somehow

Who are doing tax for? You could pivot to that industry.

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?

At some Big 4 companies there is a Partner / Principal group that has equity and are part owners of the business and an equivalent Managing Director group that does not have equity and are essentially employees.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?
