I’m an S2 in Audit. I’m really, really done but also overwhelmed with the job search. I need remote + 40 hours but I can’t afford a pay cut from my current salary (LCOL). Recruiters keep tossing jobs to me that are less than I’m currently making and have terrible benefits. I have 1.5 years to manager. WWYD? And what roles should I be looking for if I just want to work with numbers and not clients? Data entry is my dream job atm but I’ve priced myself out of that lol.

Data analysis or financial analyst. But wtf, data entry is your dream job? That is soul crushingly tedious

likefunny

I still do that from time to time after 15 years. Consistent data is a necessity for automation.

Come to Protiviti! Generally steady 40 hours a week and our clients are surprisingly well known fortune 100 companies. Pay is good and bonus structure is way better than big four. Happy to refer.

funny

Go to another big 4 and do IA advisory/consulting, much less stress and you will get a nice pay bump

How much are you making now? Are you willing to travel for work?

~80k which should be sufficient but there are some other details that cause me to lose about half a paycheck. And rent is still insane. I’ve already cut my budget to the bone - no Netflix, Amazon, etc. Just internet, insurance, groceries and the like.

I’m ok with some travel, maybe 10-20% depending on the role and compensation. Again, no client/external facing roles though.

Data Entry as a dream job is where I got lost

I’ve been on shitshow clients for 2 years helping to put out fires the entire time. I just hop from one fire to the next. I’m over it 😂 So just being able to sit and put numbers into a spreadsheet for a while sounds pretty darn good to me right now. Obviously not a job I would find, but that kind of low level stress would be fantastic haha.

like

Who is going to pay $80k for data entry? That’s what outsourced employees work on for the equivalent of ~$25k USD.

Hence why I said I priced myself out 🤦‍♀️

like

What is your current salary? It can take time to find a fully remote role. They exist but they are competitive.

80k would be easy to get on a remote senior role. Keep trying you definitely are not priced out.

IA is typically less stressful than audit, happy to refer if you're interested. Ex B4 here, switched to my current firm last year for a 40% bump in base comp, 40hrs/week, fully remote, and a way nicer annual bonus. Hit me up if you have any questions
