Could anyone kindly tell me about the Investment Management and Private Equity Audit Group at Deloitte? 1. Work Life Balance (Is it worst than the ordinary Big 4 WLB?) 2. Is it an entirely different audit from commercial/retail audits (think account balances etc.) 3. Difficult to learn how to audit clients in this industry without prior experience in the industry?(been doing commercial audits for 3 years) 4. Are there relatively good exit opportunities for this audit group? Deloitte PwC EY

For what it's worth I'm a director in industry now. Personally, I would drop the two big 4 criteria. You're looking for someone to do fairly basic accounting and month end close. Anyone with experience can handle it. If you were hiring for someone to do complex accounting I'd get it, but a standard accounting manager.... Big 4 isn't going to add much. If anything it's actually a detriment as that person would have seen less clients and likely was working with an offshore team on the basic stuff you're looking to have them do. I just hired a senior out of pwc who couldn't figure out how to reconcile a cash.
Experience with ERP implementation is way more important and harder to find
Are you going to train this person or do you expect them to know everything going in? If you want someone who is a proven hard worker with professional credibility- go with someone who is a CPA with big 4 senior experience. It's a plus if they have some industry experience as well. But they might need some training on the basic stuff at first but they'll pick it up very quickly.
It takes very little effort to train/give a few examples. But people who have survived in big 4 for multiple years and have gotten senior promotion are incredibly hard working, used to tight deadlines, good communicators, independent, and have leadership abilities. That is not easily taught.
2,4,5 - you're focused to heavily on Big 4 experience. In my experience it can and does vary.
