Is my husband getting fired? Tonight he got a meeting invite with his bosses boss and an HR director. Meeting is titled “critical business update” my HR gut thinks this is a termination meeting. He’s had a hard last month or two with work due to some circumstances out of his control. He isn’t on a PIP or anything formal, but his boss did have a recent verbal chat about performance. He’s a software engineer for context.

Unfortunately, if there is no outstanding business between the folks involved in the meeting already, yes it’s likely termination or a final notice. I wish you and your husband all the best. Even if it’s the worst case scenario, know that it’s just a season and things will get better.

If it’s his boss’s boss, I think termination is doubtful. My guess is that the meeting is to share that his boss is leaving the company. I don’t know any situations in which my boss has ever stepped in to terminate someone on my behalf. Pleas report back and crossing my fingers for you and your husband.

like

Are the circumstances out of his control related to his boss or another leader? It could also be a meeting because if so than they may be terminating the boss and they are updating him. What was his performance like prior to the past 2 months? It could also be a formal PIP process meeting too. There are a hundred variables. But at least it's a good market to get hired for tech.

like

More likely they will put him on a PIP.

Well here’s the update… he’s officially laid off. I guess his company is restructuring the vertical he works on. It’s not clear how widespread this will be. Lay offs never come at a good time. We were supposed to close on the sale of our home tomorrow and then close on the new one Friday so time to make some calls… 🫠 if anyone is hiring a full stack senior software engineer DM me!

Thank you all for the well wishes, support, and positivity! We know this will soon pass. There’s something better in store for him soon. 💓

How do I make the small company I work for recognize my highly productive work ethic?

An employee came to me in confidence to raise concern about a colleague of hers who speaks often about guns and how many he owns, etc. Based on what she's described, I don't believe this person has been threatened in any way, but it's clear that the situation is making her feel very uncomfortable - especially given recent events. What, if anything, can I or should I do to help? The company is on the smaller side, so there's really no option to move either employee to a different team.

I've been working remotely for the past two years, and it's been great. I love working from home and being able to watch my kids grow up through their eyes as they play around me. But sometimes, when you're in this kind of situation, it's hard to know what to talk about with your coworkers.

Have you ever dealt with a colleague that believes in extremely (in my opinion) outdated or even just false claims and treats them as scientific facts? I work with several older men but one of them practices "provocative therapy" as in you just play the devil's advocate with your patient and side with the negative half of their thinking. In theory I could see this working situationally, but as a whole philosophy regardless of the patient's issue I think it's ridiculous.

Whole30 lasagna. I used [this recipe ](https://thefoodieeats.com/whole30-lasagna/) as the base but made some modifications to make it healthier and due to what I had in the kitchen.

Instead of 2 lbs of ground beef I used a lb of ground turkey and added in a container of confetti ‘rice’ from Whole Foods which is carrots, broccoli and cauliflower.)

I used JOI cashew base instead of making cashew cream and used heart of palm lasagna ‘noodles’.

Are ARK funds' inflows propping up the underlying stocks prices?
Can someone tell me if I understand this correctly? Let's use ARKG as an example. PACB is 6.54% of fund. If the fund takes in a billion in the next week, they'll deploy somewhere around 6% of that into PACB to stay on % target. $60 million gets invested over the month into PACB. Volume in PACB in December was 34.2m shares at ~$30 for a total of 1 billion volume. ARKG took in over 400m in one day during December...

I’m trying to use the lookup function to grab data from a worksheet within the same workbook. I want the column to reference the cost code in one worksheet, find the cost code in the other and display the billed to date associated with it. The problem is that it repeats an amount randomly. There will be multiples then a blank cell in one that I know has a cost associated with it.
Formula=LOOKUP(D3,!Sheet!$D:$D,!Sheet!$H:$H)

I learning that the younger crowd coming into the market thrives off these identifiers yet they know very little about the real world aspects of the job. I watch leadership roll their eyes at the email footers. I feel like keeping those attached to my name hurts my credibility so I removed them…. I’m I thinking wrong?
