Is staying on a project and being the one the current manager coaches up for manager the only way to get a promoted to manager? I’m experienced enough and have leadership and financial reporting responsibilities but I’m not as tenure as the other senior and she has more leadership responsibility. Assuming zero shot at manager?

I'm not sure you're focused on the right thing. Are you performing in a manager role, at a manager level? If so, then your case for manager is as good as anyone else's. If the other senior has more responsibilities and is performing well in them, then if it comes down to one slot between you it sounds like she has an edge.

Also, you're commingling leadership and management and in my opinion these are two very different things. Management is about directing work to achieve a result with a team. Leadership is about shaping and directing teams towards broader goals.

I only manage 1 person so fair point. My work streak doesn’t demand another staff member so not sure how to grow beyond that yet. I’ll need to have a conversation with my manager I’m just not sure how to phrase it.

any insight into how a pmm skillset is different from a brand strategist one? of course the pmm applies insights to and influences the product, but it seems like a lot of the core elements - research, understanding the user, generating insights, developing messaging and angles to speak to them, etc are super similar. interested in transitioning and I want to understand where my gaps are!

Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Should I apply for roles outside the company?

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.
