Exit immediately. You won’t be able to make good decisions if your mental health is destroyed
I agree I'm GPS and I've not ever worked 12/13 on the regular. Now don't get me wrong there are heats but rare. However I have noticed some people can't even handle that for 2 weeks (I'm starting to get there).
Leave ASAP!!! I decided to stay and my mental health has significantly deteriorated! I’m putting my notice on Friday and I’m going to be in therapy for awhile.
D4, you can take STD if you're in therapy for full pay (work with talent and then it's through insurance), then put in your notice when you return....
Jump ship. Exit ops won’t be drastically different in one year
That’s what I have heard and expected but wanted to get more advice and hear others’ thoughts. Thank you!
There is so much movement happening right now, you could probably leave, and it would be fine. There has been a lot of stuff going on at Deloitte, and people seem miserable - it's not just you.
Too many type-A-hole personalities, cult-like culture and quirky people. OP, you will need to decide based on what works best for your situation including financial regarding the timing of exit. Once that is taken care of then I would resign on your terms.
If it helps, I bailed out of a $125k gig bc I hated the ofc and culture. Work was fine, not particularly challenging actually. Just disliked the place. Also, chose to bet on myself that I could get more pay elsewhere.
Ofc looked like the grey, soul-less cubicle prison Neo worked in in the opening minutes of The Matrix. Work in ofc required. Only got a few months wfh due to covid.
Anyway, hating the job showed in the work done. Likely same for you. Realized that the best choice was to exit. Mkt is strong now so good opps out there.
I found D. Offer was solid so now I'm here. No complaints yet, but ohh lawdy!, y'all D folks sure are obsessed with "build your brand" and "build your network" and getting promoted to this level and that LOB.
Makes me wonder how I should allocate my time between doing actual work vs. resume polishing and boot licking. Not that it's an issue: I'm good at all three.
If it’s affecting your mental health, you need to address that first. Have a conversation with your leadership and your coach. If that doesn’t pan out there would be a wellness champion that you can reach out to.
Call Deloitte live well program. You can search dnet for the number. Tak to them and figure out next steps.

It’s not for everyone. Better to bail sooner rather than later.
I worked with someone in the same boat; they were at D a whopping 8 months and bailed after they realized it’s not what was sold to them in undergrad recruiting. The good news is that places are hiring like crazy, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find an exit op.
Right Deloitte 5, OP, now that we are coming out of the pandemic there are a ton of companies hiring both in consulting and industry. Most of these places had positions on hold for the past year and are now reopening the requisitions.
I stayed in a job over 5 years and my mental health is destroyed. I wish I got out after 6 months.
I suggest you speak with your doctor and talk about temporary medication that can help you so you don't fall into a deep depression. Ask your doctor if they will support you taking a few weeks off for medical leave and complete short term disability for you. You are burned out and being forced to work crazy hours. You should not be working 12 hour days!
You tried talking to your leadership so I suggest you reach out to your coach and tell them your mental health is suffering and you need time to recover. Consider taking 4-6 weeks to get your mental health back to a good place.
I had some awful teams and some great ones and that did affect my experience but even when my team was great, if the workload was too much, it didn't matter how great the team was if we were all stressed and stretched beyond our limits.
I suggest you try and find a better project in GPS that has a better work life balance. They exist! When you interview, make sure you ask about expectations of responsibilities and time commitment. Set strong boundaries for your availability. We all need to put in extra effort now and then to get a job done but working extra long hours every day is not ok. Ask tactful questions that will help you avoid the situation you are in now.
I suggest the CMS account in Federal Health - great people who really embrace team spirit and well being (based on my experiences but not all projects are equal which is why it is important to ask questions before you join. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you).
MHS is another good account to focus on, so are most projects for Veteran Affairs. Go on DPN and look for folks that work on these projects through a search for those accounts and reach out and start networking. I've made great connections this way.
Stay away from toxic accounts like DHS, FDA etc (find out other ones to avoid by networking with your peers and asking how they felt on their projects)
Looking for a new job will take some effort but it is a great time to find another position if you want to leave. Just consider putting some of that effort into finding a better fit at Deloitte before you jump ship.
If you choose to stay at Deloitte, take what they say to heart: You own your own career path so don't feel like you have to just be pushed along by the current you find yourself in. You are your greatest ally and advocate!
I was miserable at Deloitte my first 2 months and genuinely started feel hopeless and helpless and was going to quit and pay back my bonus. Luckily my coach really cared and helped me network with the right people when I finally opened up to and voiced my concerns. I received a lot of the above advice through my connections which really helped me find my way.
Sorry for the long response but I hope it helps and wish you the best of luck whatever you decide!
Lol thanks! Also I think it’s super thoughtful that you took the time to write this, kudos to you <3
At least you recognize it. Good for you! Tell them ✌️
Leave ASAP
Leave Deloitte.
Maybe try coming to advisory?
Your career is a marathon and not a sprint. If you want to leave then go ahead it could be the best thing u can do or it could be a mistake but who knows till you try and go with ur gut.
I’m on the same boat as you. I wish I had words of comfort but just know your experience is shared

It doesn’t get better. Use Uncle D like they are using you. Mark yourself as open on LI and the offers will start coming in.
My first 6 months were hell. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was basically hazed on my first project. You definitely can find your way into better situations here, but I can't promise you that it's worth whatever you'll go through on the way. For a place that boasts "#1 talent experience", it's actually a ridiculously variable one, and may come down to luck
I’m coming up on a year, agree D wasn’t as great as I expected. I was hired for work that doesn’t exist as an “in-caser” and have been struggling to shift over to commercial where that work exists. It was a bait and switch in a way. Either way, underutilized and looking for something new. Two others were picked up with me from our old company, all three of us in same boat.

You should post this in the actual Deloitte bowl so you get target answers from folks that may be able to help you. I’ve expressed similar concerns before and they were addressed immediately m, in fact, they instituted wlb programs and held leaders accountable.
I am not sure what you mean by lateral move, but you can’t transfer until you have 1 year with the firm, that’s pretty standard anywhere you work. As far as WLB and hours concerns, below are the people you’d address this with. Who exactly are you chasing?
1. Have you spoken to the project PMD? What did they say?
2. Have you spoken to your coach? What did they say?
3. Have you spoken to your account Well Being champion?
4. Have you spoken to your Talent Business advisor (TBA is HR)
5. Have you spoken to your Market Offering leader?
