Menopause is definitely something I wasn’t prepared for when it started for me. I miraculously had a baby just before I turned 40, and started investigating donating eggs to my identical twin who was already in menopause likely due to an autoimmune condition. My daughter must have been just about my last egg... No donating eggs/neices or nephews for me. It wasn’t long after she was born that I gave in and started HRT. I take estradiol and medroxyprogesterone, and it has helped me stay somewhat sane and well-rested. I can remember working with someone who was having a hard time with the change in my early twenties and hoping that I wouldn’t handle it that badly. I also was thrust into medical menopause when I was about 35 to treat endometriosis post-surgery. Thankfully when it happened naturally the symptoms were more tolerable.
