Here is a fun fact - as a candidate I always ask this and you would be surprised at how many people cannot answer this question. The amount of over-preparing a candidate is expected to do in this job market is insanity only to be met by underprepared (no one ever reads your resume until you are in the actual interview) and uninvested in you or the hiring process (burn out?).
Yes but not directly like that. I've asked what are some goals and targets that have been identified. And always ask WHY, otherwise is going to be some hyped vanilla response. Asking the WHY and providing details on how you can contribute or understand where the team is headed shows your boss that you're already focused on breaking down the barriers.

Totally agree — this question separates the serious from the casual. It also helps both sides align expectations early. If a candidate asks this in the first round, I immediately assume they’ve been burned before and learned from it.
The answers here are gold. Thanks for sharing guys. I will 100% implement these in my next interview. Now that I landed a few roles, I realized that I don't just want to fill the position, I want to exceed expectations and do a great job. That's the tricky part!
Yes, it's always a great questionto ask
