Just got out of a client review on Zoom. The client shared his screen and accidentally had Slack open. He was chatting with his coworker on the side and I could clearly see “That guy [MY NAME] is a waste of air.”

Could’ve been another person with the same name (although my name is spelled pretty distinctly), but the timing was incredibly suspect. I feel so devalued, so uncomfortable, so disrespected. Even worse as the only Asian at the agency and the only non-white face in the room.

Need advice - I've been talking to a Partner contact at a big-4 firm where I REALLY want to work. She sent my info to the managing partner in my city, but I haven't heard anything for about 3 weeks. Been playing it cool because I know these things can take time, BUT, I just got let go from my current firm. I have til 12/15 to find a new job.

I think non-inclusive teams aren't revenue-efficient, but also aren't morally bad. Most just want to live in their bubble and not have their lives disrupted. If people want coworkers to talk football or cricket or fashion or LGBTQ+ rights with, that's entirely their prerogative. Companies and teams aren't just money printers, but also communities. You can't expect to fit into all communities.

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative.
