Actual work is already kinda part time (time spent wise). As you were suggesting, I was thinking of a global traveling role with wife coming with me. See the world at company dime.

Any of you switch to a data analyst or other more “tech” type role? Or just a career change that isn’t accounting?

I’m a tax manager with over 10 years of experience (5 years public, 4 in industry, and back to public for 3 but in “transformation”). I got burnt out during covid and took a break from work. And now I’m trying to decide if I want to take a big pay cut and start over in a data analytics role. Just feeling sort of lost 😭

Does anybody have any experience getting a Grandpad or Jitterbug (or similar) for an elderly relative who is not local to you? Yesterday my younger brother called me looking for good hidden swimming spots in the mountains. He was up there with a bunch of friends and their original plans had fallen apart hard. And I go much more often than he does.

I told him I had map pins that are EXACTLY what you need for these hard to find places. I can send them in 10 mins when I get home.

Reply? Forget it, I'm all set.

Yep, 10 mins is too long. Here I was expecting "Wow! That's fantastic!" How silly of me.

My observation is that it is hard for consulting partners to land the quality public or private board roles everyone naturally targets. Despite there being a significant amount of exceptional talent that could be deployed, there is a big bias against consultants. Everyone wants “operators,” but I feel every board could also benefit from one current or former consulting partner. But sadly, that’s not the way the external world looks at things...
