Looking at a job at jp morgan. What level is control manager associate? Looks like a manager position requiring 5-7 years of work experience but I am not sure why it says manager and then associate after that?

Everyone’s titles are different. I remember a friend from Goldman was super impressed that I was already an associate lol.

funny

Titles are weird at investment banks - associates would be quite a bit higher level than at a big four.

helpful

Control manager at JPMC is synonymous with Control Officer. An associate is typically a lower level individual contributor. There are two levels of associates (601 & 602). Next is VP (603). Sometimes VPs are managers sometimes they are individual contributors. Executive director is the next level followed by managing director.

I have been working with Walmart for the past 14 months and have recently got an offer from Blackrock for 45 LPA.
Considering the recession and US market scenario, help me understand if it will be a good move to join BlackRock OR should I continue with Walmart with the current compensation.

PS. I am not happy with growth prospects in the current project in Walmart.

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. Any recommendations for finding the rare executive-level legal positions or for landing on the radar of the big executive search firms would be much appreciated!

Take a senior position with low pay or a mid-level position with possibly the same pay or slightly more and a title review at 6 months? Both great opportunities.

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. My main argument to choose blockchain is the easy entry with little experience and high salary, I plan on growing my skills during the bear market and get a job once the market recovers. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.

Question for those in "tech" cities. I am in Northern VA and view this area as a potential tech destination of the future as FAANG moves towards servicing the federal govt (see HQ2). Is there much of a premium in terms of pay for the accountants in the current tech cities? Is a career in FAANG as an accountant better than public accounting if you never expect to make partner? There already seems to be a severe shortage of talent here in NoVa so I'm wondering what to expect 3-5 years out.
