Maxed out my 401k contributions for the year at EY. Joining a new firm this year that automatically has the employee contribute a few percent of their paycheck to a 401k. Any suggestions how I should approach so I don’t go over the limit?

Tell the new company that you have already maxed and not to take anything out. If they do make them stop and withdraw what they put in

like

A lot of companies have auto-enroll but you can opt out and set contribution to 0%. You just have to remember to re-set it for 01/01/22 to whatever percentage you want going forward.

You should be good, there is a 19.5k limit for employee contributions and then a higher limit for employer contributions. As long as you don’t contribute and only your employer does, you should be good

It’s always Deloitte

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

Do they take it out of my 401k? I know a lot of people will say I never shouldve applied but I didn't think too much about actually get a call back when I applied.
