That's an excellent way to be. Fix nothing.
If I may... a person not showing reacting is hard to trust. It's great to know how to hold your horses sometimes, but being human is key for nonverbal communication, sympathy, and trust. It's hard to trust someone who doesn't show reactions.
This does not necessarily mean you are wrong. I'm just sharing with you guys a different perspective . Have a great day
I was raised old school - “keep personal and business separate” and “life is tough, get over it” (ie limit the complaining / emotion) so I think now, decades later, it just naturally comes in on my day-to-day interaction. But appreciate your fresh take and one more thing to list in therapy 😂
I have a severe case of RBF. I’m “hard to read” because I always look annoyed/pissed. If you communicate well then don’t sweat the other comment.
On another occasion a while back, was told “I’m here to support you and advocate for you, but I need you to tell me when you need help”, but then the actions didn’t match the words and that was a big 🚩. I get told the same all the time and while it’s intimidating to some, being emotional is a liability. That said, you’ll need to build trust with your boss and coworkers and that might mean selectively opening up from time to time. Part of leading is inspiring and that requires positive energy. Good luck, it’s a balancing act.
