Don’t tel them. Just don’t. It never goes well and that’s when gossip starts.
All of the above. Don’t do it. Keep it a secret. Once you leave, even if you were totally admired and the center of the company culture, you will be forgotten after a few months. It’s just the way it is. Telling your employer you’re thinking of other options is like telling your girlfriend you’re going to start checking out other women.
You never tell your team, boss, peers you are planning to leave until you have an offer letter signed.
Yea. You can’t tell them that. Though it seems counterintuitive, “here’s my notice” is way more gracious and effective. Gotta fake it until then. Don’t worry, we all have.
Same, I’m waiting for corona to blow over- I view my job right now is a filler. Just faking it
Don't tell.
When you eventually put in your two weeks, you can do it this way: "so I received this opportunity that I want to explore, I think it is good for me." And that is how you resign while telling them you care.
I guess I’m wondering what outcome or benefit you expect to get from telling your team this?
With layoffs possible every day you do not want to give your employer a reason to easily add you to the list. Do not tell anyone until you have a new job OR you are 100% prepared to be let go on the spot.
Definitely don’t tell them! I know it feels weird, but it won’t lead to a positive outcome for you. It’s nice to be concerned about how they’ll feel, but just focus on communicating your exit strategically once you have a new option, not communicating what you’re doing now (looking for new options.)
Don’t say anything. You think they want to be there either?
Why would you tell them? Just find a job and give notice.
People leave. This is normal. No one normal will hold it against you for pursuing happiness or career advancement. Do not feel bad about this.
Pro
Do not say anything. Just start looking.
Explore your options first and then tell them
Obviously, want to keep my job I need the money, but I feel my strengths and passion aren’t in this role or even field. How do I go about effectively and graciously communicating that?
Find something that you’re passionate about. Then leave. No need to pussy foot.
Rising Star
Don’t tell them.
Also, it won’t be a surprise. I’ve never once been surprised. It’s usually obvious as day when someone is checked out and looking.
Simple. Don't tell them a thing.
Don’t say a word
Don’t take this wrong way. But this post has the same energy as saying you’re thinking of leaving town and how do you break it to your local Walmart that you’re exploring other places to live without having them freak out or get upset with you.
