I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

Partially venting, and partially asking if this is worth sticking through: I am a junior associate. About a month ago, I made the move to a larger firm. Since day 1, one of the partners has constantly put me on the spot, quizzing me every time he calls, which gave me a lot of anxiety, but I was dealing with it. I just started a new job this past week and I’m realizing my boss is a huge asshole and doesn’t have a great reputation in the company.

It was hard to tell during the interview process but ultimately I don’t think I’m gonna enjoy working for them. I have two other job offers I declined the other week that I could potentially go back to and see if they’re still interested in me. Is that crazy? I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

Recently switched jobs and had several thousand available to rollover into my new 401K. Also just got married/had a wild bachelor party/overspent on honeymoon, which led to me having about the same amount in high interest credit card debt. Regarding the WSJ article.. Can anyone in PE explain why any pension fund would be interested in buying single family homes? Extremely illiquid, historically follows inflation.... Do they think Texas will go the way of CA? Ie/ zoning and artificial cost inflation due to supply constraints by the govt? It just seems to go against what is taught in economics as a sound investment... i guess CALPERS is desperate for yield given how upside down the state is
