You know what consulting requires. That’s not going to change and the hill gets steeper over time. Is the potential for increased money worth it to you? $450k ain’t bad and will probably not be your ceiling in industry. I downshifted a few years ago and make the a little less than I did in consulting but work half as much. Im spending more time with family, on personal projects and on non-profit work.

I’m still in consulting, it’s just in a smaller, more focused practice. We’re also not the mainline business but a revenue enhancer to other business lines. The work is stimulating just not all consuming. I’m also leaning a lot and get a chance to lead. Sure, the blue chip consulting partnership would have more bling, but the partnership run revealed an anxiety issue I wasn’t aware of and after all that I found out it wasn’t worth it for me. So I get to do good work that I’m good at and don’t spend too many hours a week doing it.

I don’t like either tbh. Is there like an easy gig that pays $1-3MM you can get instead?

Worried about the economy downturn, debating whether to sell the rental properties. Thanks for the advice.

I worked hard at a small agency and was promoted from AE to AS after only 8 months in the industry. I had to leave and found a contract position as an AS at a large agency. I am finishing my contract and my boss offered me a permanent position, but wants me on as an AE. I am open to the AE position, but they are unwilling to compromise on the AE salary which is a substantial cut from my salary at my former agency and 45% of my contract pay. What do I do? Do I leave if I feel I deserve more?

Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?
