Post 3% Conference and me and the other people at my agency who actually care about inclusion would love to start something that builds camaraderie while also raising awareness for those who are “too busy in the day to day” to care/think about this stuff. I’d love to hear stories about groups or committees you guys have at your agencies and how you were able to be seen without being labeled “the ethnic group”

I straight up told my Managing Director and General Manager that I'd be starting a group called "Meet All The Black People". They were on board because they know groups like this are important especially when it comes to retention and growth.

Hoping to have a meeting where we just have open dialogue about the fact we are a dying breed and microaggresion that exists

Also, do the afraid to be "the ethnic group." Sometimes job #1 is simple awareness... For us and them.

Was at an event recently. Seems like advertising really only cares about diversity as it applies to white women. I think this industry wants to stay white.

I really feel like I should be excused from this "diversity and inclusiveness" training stuff lmao. It's about implicit bias and I'm sorry it's just not believable coming from an old white man's mouth when there are maybe 4 non-white associates. We're having these meetings 3 times this week. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Why are town Hall meetings so impersonal? They are all about awards / the number of people hired. I know FCB health is large, but we never hear from people who aren’t Executives. Last town hall, when discussing inclusion efforts, there were no people of color represented and one of the 4 pillars of diversity was centered around our “reputation as an organization” (that really rubbed me the wrong way). At my last agency those conversations were always led by people of color from every level.
