Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

[cont’d]: on what to prioritize in terms of navigating my career to end up somewhere I will be happy. Any advice on where to start researching or becoming better informed so I can make the right choices for my career? E.g., anyone had any success with a career coach? Any books or sites or practices you’d recommend? I want to take control of my life but I just have no idea what to even aim for and feel like my inactivity is resulting in me being siloed in a career path I don’t want.
How many years have you been practicing? I too got shuffled into litigation at my first firm but I managed to land an in house job 4 years into practicing. Your labor and employment experience will be helpful but the market is tough right now. I would just apply and keep applying…you’ll land something eventually.
Thank you, and glad to hear of an optimistic outcome from someone else. I am in my 4th year. I don’t feel like I have sufficient experience to move where I want now is what is scary. I’d have to be managing litigation. And I don’t want to enter and be stuck in that area forever.

Super common among this generation. My 2 cents is it’s tied to not having a 5/10/15 year plan. So you’re aimless and start to despair as time passes, worried that you’re not adulting the right way.
First, start with asking, “what job do I want?”
Second, “what qualifications do I need for that?”Look at the job postings for these roles.
Third, “how do I get those qualifications?” Look at LinkedIn resumes from those in the roles you want to see what they did.
Fourth, start making your plan of attack.
This is good advice. Thank you! Lot of work ahead of me I think. Now I just gotta figure out how to cut time out to get this done on top of everything else 😅
