Yea never call out a team member for being wrong in front of a client. Discuss with her in private so she can correct herself later. Salary seems like for a bump from a1 to a3 is low but you came in higher than new hires so they are leveling you out to others before senior at mid 70s
Why in the name of all that is good are you in public accounting with those credentials and experience in much higher level stuff? Either youre full of it, or you screwed up somewhere on your path
Dude switch groups to what you know at the director level and let everyone else work for you.
Pretty sure you are in either SF Bay, LA or Chicago because I heard about you... And I'm in Tax... In Chicago... At Deloitte.
Oh goodness, I agree with that of course. I did this back at the office in person.
When you say argued...what do you mean? Even if you're older you're still new and need to respect the levels of seniority. If the partner makes a mistake let them figure that out for themselves. They're the ones liable, not you. But they also have the authority to basically make your life hell and possibly get fired. So don't be to confrontational with a partner.
I argued and stood my ground with partner. She made some mistakes in front of client and I did what I would have aways done with other past team members. I gave my advice. She was very upset. I'm an older employee, who worked on the Street for 15 years prior to getting my cpa and entering public accounting. Am I blackballed? Anyone else with similar experience?
I was promoted to A3
In her office with doors closed.
Oh good. I don't see any issue then.
Valid points @Delloite1. The partner made stuff up in a meeting, or she gave incorrect information. Depends how you see it. It was on topic of Valuations of an illiquid secondary our client had bought in the secondary market. She told the CFO, who is new to the firm. The CFO said these numbers would be taken and they filed the same day. Back at the office I spoke to our partner and mentioned the rates she quoted would be disputed by any valuations workshop, and we'd have to restate. When she asked how I know I mentioned thay I worked in this secondary space and have a PhD in financial engineering. I got my CFA at 22 and I worked in a secondary fund for this for years. I told her I'd be happy to speak to our FSR group. She got really defensive from there on. Implied I'm going behind her back. Once she got defensive it was over. I apologized and left.
4 ulcers.
Public accounting is not stressful in comparison.
How big was the pay cut?
In all honesty, I'm fortune enough where money was not, nor is, a concern. It was in the 6 figures.
Blessed. How does one go about a phd in financial engineering?
My husband told me the same. I am really happy where I am. In relative terms, these past three years have been the least stressful in my career. I just need a 'breather'.
I was an experienced hire and got a 2, so someone is lying to you OP
Im thinking OP is not liked by someone (mgr or above) in that office.
Tbh, if an issue material enough to cause restatement on an assertion as judgmental as valuation wasn't addressed by the team prior to the client meeting a few hours before filing, you probably don't want to be part of that group anyway, so maybe being blackballed isn't such a bad outcome?
