Question- is it appropriate for team members to join video calls with political propaganda in view? For example, if a person had a giant Biden/Harris sign or Trump sign and the clients might have different affiliations, should we worry about that or ask team members to tone it down? Just curious in this land of all zoom from home all the time.

Internal calls it's ok but for a client/external call they should use a background or blur or move it. I wouldn't use the phrase tone it down, though, just ask them to move it or blur or background straight up.

like

Even internal calls Country too polarized and politics is as verboten as religion right now

I don’t think it’s professional. You wouldn’t have it at work so why have it in your background on a video call. There are backgrounds that can be downloaded and used if you don’t have an office set up at home. This is a touchy subject.

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?
