Just think of the ripple effect. Nuclear bomb destroys Manhattan. Almost everyone dies in that area. Descendants attempt to seek insurance coverage to replace their parents’ home. It is settled at ACV. It cannot be rebuilt within the recovery period due to fallout. Lawsuits happen creating a new specialty for lawyers and claims teams. Premiums absolutely sky rocket. It’s hard to fathom as this is not each scratching the surface of the impact.
Coverage exclusions typically include war and any 'acts of God'. Because they couldn't be expected to pay out in events that catastrophic. After 911 they came out with TRIA coverage for acts of terror which are isolated events.
I believe TRIA steps in at some point, but I don't think you could ever properly price most of those excluded exposures.
