I have “unlimited vacation” at my firm. How much vacation/PTO is given at big law firms that don’t have unlimited?

One of my coworkers thinks she deserves more PTO than it is allowed in our agency because she's "struggling". We all struggle with our own battles but she's being very rude about it. How can we handle this?

A parent of one of my students told admin she thinks it's irresponsible that I won't be grading over Christmas break. I let the students know to get any work they need graded in before the break and I'll get it to it during our workdays in January. Apparently that's not fast enough for her 🙄. How much Paid Time Off is "normal" for entry level instructional designers? Coming from public education I am surprised at what is being offered in my interviews. Is 15 days PTO and 5 sick days "normal"?

Is your firm treating 12/26 and 12/27 as firm holiday since the 24th and the 25th are during the weekend this year? Of course client demands would dictate whether people will be working, but curious what the official policy is. For what it’s worth, my firm treated the day after thanksgiving as holiday and I didn’t have to work for the whole day.

Anybody have to take time off for long-covid? How has your HR handled it? I feel like any info I have gotten on FMLA and disability is because I’ve brought it up and have had to follow up multiple times.

Starting a new job next month, and considering taking two days off for kids’ spring break next month. Not sure whether it’s appropriate to request time off for a new job (I would’ve preferred not to take any time off for first three months). I may just be able to just ask for a single Friday off (so 1 day rather than 2 days).

Any thoughts on whether I should proceed with the request? I just came from big law and want to make sure I’m not making a bad impression on my colleagues.

Leadership only promotes people who kiss ass the most qho have no managerial experience and pass people who actually have experience in a manager role. Leadership never helps you with anything. So my work has unlimited PTO -global company. I'm based in uk and line manager is in USA. he said I'm taking to much time off and has brought it up with upper management. I have taken in total to date 22 days with 8 (4 include an operation) more to go. My performance is above target. I just feel blindsided.

Anyone ever asked for a sign on bonus in the form of vacation days - so you don’t have to wait like 6 months in order to take 2weeks? Or ask for reduced pay at first to accelerate the accrual?

Final round! Panel interview w an assignment to present some ideas on how to increase customers for 1 of 5 key audience segments.
I’m most familiar with 1 as it’s the audience I work with at current job. Not enough info/experience with other 2 segments. Remaining segments I know enough but not as confidently.
