The amount of comfortably retired people I see who don’t know the difference between their, there, they’re; your and you’re; and too, to, and two just reminds me how much easier it used to be to make a good living in America

A lot of leadership/folks close to retirement have some of the worst grammar in emails/technical reports. Misspelling, punctuation errors, etc. and all are still banking over $200k salaries… I understand they have the field experience (well a handful at least) but come on!

like

Imagine being 25 and having one grammatical error on your resume though…those leadership folks would instantly not hire you!

You’re point is well taken their are people that spend two much time playing videos games too learn proper grammar. 🥸

Oh I have no clue who knows what. I was just trying to use all the things you mentioned in your post to try and be funny.

I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage.

I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest.

Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?

Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. Acquaintance was switching insurance policies and flubbed the coverage dates and there were a few days where the vehicle was uninsured. No GAP insurance. I'm not seeing many options for her besides to continue pmts, fixing just enough to drive or voluntary repo. Thoughts?

Currently I put about 3000 towards my loan and 3000 towards my savings. Cont'd...

We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

Seeking feedback on GAP insurance. I had a family member who purchased a car in June or July. They were in an accident last week and it sounds like the car will be declared a total loss. Never dealt with this before, so wanted to ask if anyone has ever had an instance where the insurance didn't cover the outstanding balance of the loan and the insured then owed money? Car was $35k, $7k down, finance $28k. Gap insurance is through lender, not auto insurer.
