Thoughts on leaving an industry role as an HR analytics manager to a consulting role (ie PwC )? Have over 6 YOE, and wondering about culture, transition, and honestly anything if anyone has ever made a similar jump

It depends on why you love HR Analytics. Consulting projects ends up with your recommendations and you never have visibility on what happens afterwards. I moved to industry role, cause I love to see how analytics moves the needle.

Well, think about it then. You can make more money in consulting. But you may have several clients simultaneously, so you won’t be able to go deep, however, from development perspective you will be able to go wide and see various data sets and data problems, that is not often possible within one company.

I have thought about this often - I’m trying to get into HR Analytics but I know I enjoy creating the process and ideas more than seeing them through. Not helpful advice :) just understanding where you’re coming from!

100% agree with you! Which is why I pivoted my HR career more towards strategy and analytics than the “typical” process-driven HR role!

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)
