Isn’t quiet quitting staying on, but doing the bare minimum? Looks like this person just quit.
If your company decides to fire someone, do they give notice. That is equally as rude.
They usually do even better; they typically offer a severance that requires no work at all.
I don’t think this is the right usage of “quiet quitting”
Yea OPs situation is called “quitting with no notice” lol
Rising Star
😂 you're hilarious. Do you give 2 weeks notice when you fire someone?
I do this if I have given the company many opportunities to rectify situations. Poor management, lack of opportunities for advancement or lack of respect. Multiple times I went to lunch and never turned back!
Exactly! I did this too.
It seems that multiple people have left, which could indicate a deeper issue with management. It's important to reflect on leadership and organizational strategies to understand why this might be happening. Improving management skills and addressing any concerns could help create a more positive and productive environment moving forward. Learn from your mistakes.
I don’t think you are the first one to say that
Quiet quitting js when you stay employed but don't engage very actively. This is not quiet quitting.
Actions often have reactions and in here, you have only mentioned your staff's reaction but not your actions that have led him/her to that reaction. It is self-explanatory that if someone leaves a job with no notice more often than not is because it has ended up fed up with either you as a Manager, the pay or both!. Maybe you should do some self-reflection!
You or the company would have just fired her the same day had she turned in a 2 week notice! Isn't this what companies are doing lately??!!
Did you check if they’re ok?
That is not quiet quitting
Rude it may be, but deserving it also might be. Don’t know the details but you we I’ll always as us reap what you sow.
Employers nowadays are not honoring 2 week notices and instead terminating employees immediately, maybe that is why.
Low key look forward to this one day
When the head person calls you the devil, and reminds you that the state is an “at-will” state and then fires one of the best employees when they came back from planned time off behind the true devil, sometimes it’s warranted. At will is not just for the employer.
THIS. “At-will is not just for the employer”. Yes.
Simu Liu was laid off at deloitte and it was the best thing ever for him. I can say the same, except, I never became a Marvel Superhero.
Yet if you were to get rid of that person you would not give notice period they would just be gone. I don't get how employers expect "notice" when there is none given from their side. Sounds likes double standard and the only reason an employee would or should give notice is if the employee needs/wants a reference.
Yes, and most companies don't give references anymore. They refer the prospective employer to a 1-800 number and will only give the dates of employment and title.
So what's the difference between this and firing someone?
Years ago I resigned from a small firm and was then fired. I filed for unemployment, they fought it, I appealed - and won.
I will never understand how it's respectful for an employee to give notice, but a firm can just fire you on the spot.
Sorry, but this is likely more a reflection of you and their experience working with you than it is of them
Completely normal for the time we are in. I hope The person and their family is ok and that something has not happened to them! At this point! Rude= Untrained or Ignorant! Was this person directly Impolite or Ill-mannered?
I did this when I interned in private it was great. They didn’t have an end date for my internship and I didn’t want to deal with putting a 2 weeks
