What does it matter what we'd do?
Do you personally care more about the money or the hybrid schedule? That's the only question you need an answer to
Both situations are good options. Just comes down to your priories and what you personally value in a work set up
Do you have or want kids? If so, no amount of money would make RTO 5 days a week palatable, in my humble opinion. Granted I have an awful commute from the burbs into the city, but when you factor in daycare pickups/dropoffs and the fact that you're only spending a few waking hours a day with them as it is, giving that up for a little more money is just not worth it.
I am currently doing 3 days in office, the new job is 5 days. I have two kids, I totally understand the frustration of not being able to with them.
5 days in office is a nonstarter for me regardless of comp or package
I personally do not give much weight to hybrid or fully in-office. Policies change quickly.
It would probably come down to how long or bad the commute is. That 20% more adds up, but if I’m in the car more over it, that starts to lose its appeal.
It’s personal to you, really. I’d never work another 5-days in office job. My role has never required physical presence - I can (and in fact do) my job just fine from home. If you need me in the office just for the sake of having me in the office, then I already know this isn’t a good cultural fit.
Take the hybrid schedule!! 20% isn’t enough for 5 days in office. Speaking as someone with a wife/kid and brutal commute
Broken clocks nails it twice a day.
How much money do you spend on the days you commute vs at home? What value do you place on WFH days? Personally I value WFH over everything — even on hybrid, you can work up to a full week from somewhere else and nobody asks questions
Idgaf about in office. I’ll be flexible regardless. But I also don’t have kids.
I get it. For some folks, it’s critical. Where I am it’s 3 mandatory. I do 4 with Fridays remote. If they said 5, I’d still do 4 with Fridays remote lol
Take the money. Being in office is good for you and your training and your productivity. Which will result in more money beyond just the 20% pay bump.
Depends on the commute but I would take the pay. I used to be remote whenever I wanted but found myself to be more productive in person. I'm now 5 days in office and have a tesla so I just pop on the self-driving and it makes the 30-40 minute drive super easy. Also nice to separate work from home.
I personally would take the more money option, but that is just me
Unless the commute to the new job sucks, haha. Commute is important to me
Depends on the length of the commute
I prefer the flexibility to work from home.
I think it’s a personal choice and I can tell you that money doesn’t buy happiness. Meaning the money can sound good, but after a while it doesn’t matter if a person isn’t happy with the day to day.
