I am trying to figure out how to switch to SWE. I have a masters in civil engineering and have a good background in higher level math. It looks like the better coding boot camps are quite expensive. The alternative is another masters in CS which is the same cost as many boot camps. Any recommendations on picking between a coding boot camp and getting another masters degree in CS? Wondering what people think about my situation. I’ve been offered a role with a company. The job description didn’t mention college degree as a requirement. On my CV I have a section listed as “Education” and under it I have “Business Studies” with the university name and the 3 years that I attended the course (2.5 to be exact). It’s a 4 year degree and under this I have my High School equivalent with the years I attended there. The education wasn’t mentioned in the interviews. Continued below.

Do you all see a compelling future in your tax career? I’ll go first, I don’t see a compelling future working for a large PA firm in the long run because you have to work more as you move up. However, I do see a compelling future by using my knowledge and skills to open my own firm/business and work less hours as long as I make enough money which is $75k, or if I do work long hours, it’s because I want to.

What house plants are NOT toxic to cats? I swear every time I go to buy a new plant and look it up it says “toxic to pets”. I have a dumb cane which I know is toxic but didn’t realize when I bought it so now I just keep it in the laundry room away from my cat when I’m at work but that means no daytime sunlight. I have a BA in Forensic Psych, an MPA, an MPhil in Public Policy and currently in the last leg of my PH.D in Public Policy with a specialization in Health Policy.
