I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Houston downtown JW vs Westin.. Thoughts?
Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Well worst is probably what Elon did with Twitter this morning.
I’d take that tbh
Better is still the leading candidate for worst this year.

Yeah as bad as the twitter one is, this one takes the cake
So my boss at my old firm was pushing for a long overdue promotion to VP, he was a great motivator and mentor so our entire team had the extra push to succeed, the company leaders basically promised him his promotion if a certain project he was leading was successful which it was, the day we expected he would be promoted we realised that his office was locked, we then find out that they laid him off that day and that promise was a ruse just for him to deliver that project, my entire team resigned in disgust
This was real Dirty OP, we actually wanted to throw a surprise promotion celebration party for him by decorating his office, the minute we realised his office was locked we knew something was off

Nothing best about layoffs!!
Yeah but unfortunately it happens. Maybe it would’ve been better if I asked, “How would you prefer to get laid off?” Although my answer to that would be, “I wouldn’t.”
Management pulled the entire team (small SaaS solution internal consulting company) into a training session. One by one those who were going to get laid off got tabbed on the shoulder while the presenter was giving the training on product, and they were told to grab their belongings and go to a separate room. They never came back. You can see the awkwardness on the face of the presenter as the room started losing people one by one
World’s worst game of duck duck goose
You should never be in a position where being laid off matters to you that badly. Have a side income, investments, savings to last you a few years, set up an LLC to take contracts etc. You gotta prep for these rainy days because they eventually come.
Stripe was respectable.

How so? Even the 1:1s.
“We are going to set up a live, 1-1 conversation between each departing employee and a Stripe manager over the course of the next day. If you are in an impacted group, look out for a calendar invitation.
For those not affected, there’ll be some bumpiness over the next few days as we navigate a lot of change at once. We ask that you help us do right by Stripe’s users and the departing Stripes.”
I’ll go...
We had members preparing for interviews for an opportunity with a huge account. They both received a Team’s invitation from someone who has a hand in their staffing process for the aforementioned opportunity. The title of the meeting was ambiguous. They joined the call and got let go.
Brutal.
Accenture2 telling everyone it was a firing instead of a lay off prob a worst practice
Ask Elon
If I had a choice, I’d prefer to get laid off in the morning. Then at least I could go back to bed afterwards.
