PHR or SHRM-CP?
I have 6 yrs of HR exp, a PHR cert & an HRIP cert. I recently left my role as an HR Rep at a tech co b/c I was working 60+/week and the stress of the job was affecting my health. I recently received an offer at a new tech co that is $10k less than what I was previously making with comments from current EEs that this new co has a better WLB. Total comp is still a lot less than my prev company. Is less comp too much of a compromise for better WLB? What have you compromised for a better WLB?

Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
I loved the prep class at DePaul taught by John Newton. I think it’s virtual now bc of Covid. It was worth every penny and he’s hysterical!!
I came here to recommend the same. Highly recommend DePaul and John and if it is in person and you can swing it - totally worth it!
Following. Thanks for asking.
Download the PHR pocket prep app, it has 1200 questions that can be split up where you answer 10 each day.
I used Distinctive HR by David Siler. I did the self study course. It really prepared me and I can’t recommend it enough! I also downloaded the pocket prep app like others suggested. But that was really just supplemental. The questions on the test are very different from Pocket Prep.

If you have Facebook find Victoria Purser’s group. She does a bootcamp. It was the best!
Most useful for me was an app to drill questions, would give you 10 cards a day. Find a practice test workbook. I borrowed the formal test prep materials from a friend and once I took a sample test I only focused on the chapters I scored low in but I did the cards for all sections for about a month before I say for my exam.
I used HRCP online courses and used the flash cards!
I took a class through Rice University and was amazing and so much help.
I used HRCP and it was fabulous.
Following this thread. I'm also planning to get a PHR cert. Hope I can find some tips here :)
