What type of industry roles would a consultant “generalist” be suited for? I have a lot of experience in tech (MarTech, Data, System Design… no coding experience though), marketing and customer strategy, analytics, product management, process and op model… but I don’t have any speciality or niche. I’m getting bored with consulting. Does anyone have any thoughts on what type of roles would be aligned to a person like me? (I’ve been consulting for 4 years, healthcare marketing prior for 5 years)

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

I understand the importance of citations. It's a wonderful way to show how your work builds on previous research. But sometimes I just want to write an article that says "I think this" without having to cite everyone who ever said that before me.

Is consulting in NL actually tougher work than industry?

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed.
