⚠️ When looking for a job in the current situation we find ourselves in the United States, it's easy to generalize & find ourselves using whatever trending subject, law, or group as the cause of ALL evil & all our frustration as jobs get more & more scarce.
However, this is not healthy nor is it logical. Keep calm, press on, & don't allow your emotions to place ALL companies, ALL employers, ALL jobs, certain classes, 'the system', the big man, or any other category into a box.

Courage.

This ignores or downplays systemic problems and treats frustration or criticism of “the system,” companies, or classes as irrational or purely emotional. In reality, systemic forces (like exploitation, wage suppression, corporate consolidation, anti-worker laws) are proven and material causes of job scarcity and precarity. It’s not merely emotional or unfair to recognize that. It is rational and grounded in evidence.

Thanks for your comment because I couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ll add - Pray for peace, prepare for war. Because we are at war my friends, with all of the systemic subjugations created by the ruling class within this country for decades! I’m not just talking politics, business/economic ruling class as well. Republican and Democrat alike… we’ve been getting abused, manipulated and exploited for far too long.

That's a really great point. I tend to find myself getting frustrated with the entire system, and that's not fair. Millions of people find jobs every year, just because I'm having a hard time, doesn't mean the system is broken. It just means we have to be smart and work hard. Thank you for the reminder!

I agree with the sentiment but I take a more philosophical approach. It is out my control. I am working all my contacts but no one has a good fit right now. I am doing part time work to make sure ends meet.

The problem is everyone has unique situations and the urgency may be different.

I am at the point in my life where I want to find a good opportunity for five to seven years and then retire. I have less than a year to pay off my wife's car, others are owned outright and 1.5 years left on mortgage.

I resigned from a position of my own free will after careful consideration. I honestly thought I would be able to get a new job within a month or two. It has now been 5 months. I am glad I got the part time gig.

I do feel bad when I see posts like the one in this forum where the dev is living out of his car with his dog in Cali and has a degree from UCLA.

We are all in this together and I really hope you all find a great job!

It’s human to look for something to blame when things feel uncertain, but that rarely brings peace. I’ve found that just focusing on one next step at a time helps quiet the noise. How are you staying encouraged right now?

Personally, we are trusting in God as we seek the next steps in these uncertain times with absolutely no income for our family of five.

When we say “the current situation…” we need to keep in mind the cause in the United States.
I agree press on, but something has changed.
We need to change the decisions we made that has caused “the current situation”

We are in the find out phase …

Right. 100% agreed. Most of the job hunters I've met have been unemployed just over 2 years. It seems like 2 is the magic number. The graphs show it also. Oct. 2022 - something happened to the job markets in California.. A veritable cliff.
That spilled into the rest of the nation by Jan-Apr 2023. It's been getting worse ever since.

Back in May 2021, I rented a property that had sustained damage during the big snow storm. This wasn't disclosed at lease signing. The home leaked every time it rained, mold was found in the home & the LL failed to make repairs that resulted in me falling down a flight of stairs. I moved out& rented an apt for 2 mos before signing a lease on the house I live in now. This house has a serious big problem& I've found mold here too. Continued below

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Anybody else noticed recruiters are only proactively reaching out about hybrid/on-site roles nowadays?

It's almost as if people don't want to be in offices anymore so that's why it's difficult for them to fill those roles.
Sidenote: recruiters, you can see on my LI profile that I'm remote. In the "What jobs are you interested in" field you can see I'm only interested in remote roles.
So, why are you reaching out to me about jobs in a city 3 hours away that's 100% onsite and w/out even a ReLo?
