Read First Round Capital's blog/subscribe to their newsletter. Excellent. It's all you need.

The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz is great.

Blitzscaling is interesting. I dont agree with all of it.

Read Techcrunch, Term Seet, Quartz/CBInsights, Businessweek, Wired, Data Sheet (newsletter from Fortune) and subscribe to thought leadership from all the Valley firms.

Hi everyone. I’ve been recently promoted to a Manager position after a year(ish) stint as a Senior Analyst in the Data & Analytics space. It was my first job out of college and I’ve grown a lot - and luckily I’ve had a fabulous female boss who recognised and rewarded that. Wondering how to embrace this new role as my direct reports are two men who are older than me (late 20s and early 30s). Would love for any tips, tricks or books that I can use to navigate this, without looking incompetent

My boss has told me that I’m being promoted really soon (6-8) months from today to an Account Manager position from being an assistant at my company. He’s giving me every resources possible for me to be ready for that position, resources such as books, card notes and trainings. Now, I’ve seen another internal position from a different department which I’m really interested in and I know I can get because of my background. Do I apply to that new position, or hold on for the AM position.

I think my boss is an utter and complete noob, he has no technical background and only works for an hour , 30 min in morning when he tells everyone what to do and 30 min at night when he takes notes and sends to the team lead.
I need to be in his good books but often lose my temper and cut him off, how can I be more polite to him so that he doesn’t spoil my review ?

I got an offer from a firm I like. Offer is good I’m happy. But have a question — Would it be ok to push back on the start date in the offer letter? I would liken to have a week or two between when I’d end at current firm and start at new firm.

If this is ok, should I talk to them directly, or go through my recruiter?
