Hi guys :) Glad to join fishbowl and this community. Guys I have an offer of 14.41 ctc from a big 4 (11 is fixed).
Technology-Microsoft Dynamics 365(I am a functional consultant in SCM and HR; Relevant exp: 3 yrs & Total exp: 4 yrs).
My interviews in IBM are done and I am waiting for the salary discussion with HR.
What is the likely offer that I am going to get? Any idea? (My expectation is 16.5 lpa ctc). I will adjust my expectations as per replies here.
Any response is highly appreciated :)

No, that is a big 4 brain washing / false view point. It's not a big 4 or bust world. There are many very successful middle market partners. Top performers in a middle market firm can out earn a avg line partner at big four. Also some people with the ability to really sell can do a lot better at a middle market firm. Now that said there are a ton of benefits for staying in big 4. it's really up to you and what fits your abilities the best. But don't make the decision because you think you would be a failure at RSM. that's just not true. Make the decision based on oppertunity and what plays better to your abilities.
Agree with this, spent 12 years at B4. B4 talent is not better thank MM. Plenty of smart people at all levels and people who can sell. Some MM partners do very well.
B4 has better tech though.
I would not move to rsm. The morale here is rock bottom. People are leaving left and right. Audit in my office has lost so many seniors and managers last 3 months.
I’d advise against the move. RSM is undergoing an identity crisis in my opinion. Unless it’s an upward move with some strong guarantees, I’d consider one of the other options like ey or kpmg.
COULDN’T AGREE MORE!
I did this and yes it is a downgrade.
Rising Star
Agree with the consensus here about RSM. Huge downgrade career wise without a doubt. RSM talent is subpar and is reflected pretty accurately from industry employers’ perspective. The gap has widened significantly between the B4 and RSM over the past 2 years
I left RSM for PwC and would not go back but this is all team dependent so there’s no way to say if you’ll be happier here or there. It’s a gamble, so choose and know it’s a crap shoot either way.
Would you say the work and hours at PwC are more or around the same as RSM?
Leaving Big 4 can only be good
I think it used to be a step down…but not anymore. If you are good you will succeed faster. I have some colleagues that made partner /director quickly once they moved from B4.
I did it. Paychecks clear all the same and i work way less. Definitely less corporate recruiters in my LinkedIn inbox. I'd say it depends on the group and your reasons
I’ve thought about making the move for a Financial Due Diligence pivot from Audit. I’ve tried communicating interest Deals internally but my ET has not been receptive to my interest in the slightest.
Nice - bigger markets always help getting into a good team & for relevant experience.
Personally I wouldn’t leave Big 4 for any other PA firm, but that is my opinion. I wouldn’t consider it “a career downgrade” but you will likely have less opportunities than you currently have at PwC. Unless you really have a strong desire to be a partner in a PA firm and see an easier path somewhere other than PwC, I think it’s a mistake.
If you’re currently an associate, I would at least wait for one promotion cycle to show your B4 experience and promotability. What’s prompting you to consider RSM?
Public is public. I moved from big 4 for 13 years to BDO. It’s very much the same. Each office has their unique culture, but very much the same. It’s more about finding the team you want to work with vs a logo.
No, I work outside the big 4 but in the top 10. I love my job and my company. There are plenty of big clients and projects outside the big 4.
Just the retirement benefits at PwC would make me pick it over RSM.
yes
Depends on what your goals are. For some it is a downgrade, for others it is a good move
RSM has its flaws internally especially these days but to outside employers, RSM does have a very good reputation - I wouldn't let something like name value stop you from joining RSM. And plus your big 4 experience will always be on your resume - that can't be taken away assuming you can get favorable references from people you worked with there.
Yes, just go to KPMG lol. RSM is 💩
Not if you’re in tax.
