Anyone hearing noise about layoffs?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
When layoffs are coming
Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

Deloitte GPS Business Analyst vs Mercer Health Consulting Analyst?
Deloitte's offer is 7K more and in a cheaper area. Equal interest in both jobs, slight preference for Mercer for people + culture. Leaning towards Mercer because I graduate in Dec and can start in Jan vs having to wait until next summer for Deloitte + location (although higher COL)
Concerns:
Exit opportunities
Pigeonhole-ing myself into health consulting / How hard would it be to join Big 4 in a year or two if I don't like it

I'm a big believer in you keep and quit jobs because of people. Take the better team. Trust me. I followed money and regret it every day because I'm miserable.
Depends on what you value more. If you’re living check-to-check and 30% will make a tangible improvement to your lifestyle (provided you don’t just arbitrarily start buying 30% more stuff), take the money.
If you’d rather enjoy your job, care about the people you work with, expand your network of friends, and can get by with their salary, your body and mind will thank you for not walking into a high-stress pit of hell—especially over time.
The type that pays a lot takes a lot. The extra money you’ll make will go straight to the therapy sessions. 😇
Take the one that will give you better stuff for your book.
If amazing team equals work fine. If they just have dogs and are optimists, I'll take my chances.
What are your priorities in life? Where will you produce better work? How well do you play in a cutthroat environment ? 30% more now and maybe unemployed in a year (or less)... worth it? Being part of an amazing team is sometimes priceless. I would say “b” but then again, it’s your choice. :-)
Shoot the hostage
What CD1 said. I once went for the $$$$ and the cost to my mental and physical health wasn’t worth it.
I mean, I’m already at a cut throat place. I’ll gladly take 30% more and keep my daggers out.
Always take the pay. Staff changes. The type of agency that pays a lot will pay you more.
Grind it out for a year and leave to find a better culture?
No family - go cut throat
Sorry but I’m going for the pay!
Depends. 30% of what base salary? Unless the difference ends up being $50k or more overall, then I’d probably take option B.
HAZARD PAY
Ask for more $$$$ than 30%
Money, always.
What do YOU want? I am not a money seeker (as long as I can live comfortably), so small agency/great team would be my choice. However, I don’t have a SO or children, so I can be selfish in this regard
Would depend on whether or not my student loan debt was paid off. Big client work and high pay for a couple years to erase debt sounds pretty appealing to me
The pay the pay the pay. Especially since it seems like a much better agency, regardless of the issues. Remember, if it sucks, you can always quit and go to the lower tier place.
Go for the pay but know that they’ll dump you in 2-5 years. So if you can live cheap and save the extra dough that would be the only way the money makes sense. Big salary can be a career killer once you’re out looking for the next gig but with all that saved money you can get out of the biz and start something...
True. Higher pay bigger target on your back.
