How do you tell recruiters that you’re looking for a new role without sounding like you’re flakey…I started a new role in May, but an agency I freelanced for in the past posted a position I was interested in. My current job definitely isn’t horrible, but I’m not sure it’s something I want to keep doing. The agency I used to freelance for aligns way better with my interests, but does it look bad to try to jump jobs so soon? (I’m a junior, so I don’t want to burn bridges here)

Are your agencies having trouble hiring? They’ve doubled our referral bonus because they’re having such a hard time filling roles right now.

What salary should I ask for at a WPP agency for a Group CD role? I’d be working across agencies within the network…in NYC market

Currently interviewing for new roles….
HR at an agency was an hour late to our call and was totally unprepared. He didn’t even know what role I had applied for. HR for a client side role is over an hour late right now and hasn’t responded back to my email asking if she still plans to chat.
I get that meetings and emergencies come ip, but at least give the candidates a heads up.

I’m trying to help my intern on her next steps.
Do you know recruiters that handle jr position roles?

Anyone hiring associate strategy directors at an agency open to remote? I feel like all the recruiters that reach out are only offering hybrid models and I really don’t want to move.

Would you take an offer where there’s a lot of red flags about the company, the title is down leveled, but the money is better? For context, it’s not a creative role, I’d be the first woman on the team, there’s no bonus or 401K match, but the salary is $50K more than my current role. But there are so many red flags and the entire process was very chaotic.

Just got rejected for a dream role in favor of someone with a bit more experience with the client’s sector. Ironically, I spent the pandemic as a minimum wage essential worker in the client’s sector. Unfortunate but sorta funny imo.

If comp was the same, what would you do: associate director PM role at Zeno, or Sr. Director - resourcing role at Edelman?

Is not giving a junior employee even 2 months to settle into a role grounds for a wrongful termination suit?

How does staying at a job for 8 or 9 months look to other hiring managers? I know there’s people that have lasted weeks and left. But wondering if this will look bad. Have had multiple agencies I’ve stayed 2-3 yrs at. Sold and produced two decent pieces here so far.

Should I take an interview for a role brand side that I have no intention on accepting?

My client has been hinting at me moving brand side to work on his team. He even asked a former colleague to gauge my interest.

The issue is that I would be making significantly less money ($30k) and have a much lower title. I really just want to interview to meet more people in the organization, but I’m worried my agency will find out and it would put a bad taste in my clients mouth if he finds out.

I’ve got an agency (agency A) that will most probably pop the question on Wednesday, meanwhile, I have another agency that is still talking to me and will most likely make a decision a week later. Do I tell Agency A that I’m still in talks with another agency and to be patient with me, or does this come across as not being committed to their role?

Im 24 and just got offered a Senior position at a relatively well known agency..... what??? Does this happen? I’m concerned w accepting as I don’t necessarily feel ready for the jump. Thoughts? It’s such an enticing pay raise....

I’m starting to feel like people on my team and other teams take advantage of me because I’m in an entry level position. This job literally doesn’t seem to be furthering my career and rather just doing other peoples work for them..

I got 7 interviews deep for a role in-house at a company that I'd really like to work for. They said they'd keep me in mind for future openings in the department.
It's been 4 months and I haven't heard about any opening roles. They do have a role that is tangentially related to my skill-set (would be a stretch for me, but maybe in a good way?), but I'm concerned that shooting for this and missing might reflect badly for an opening that would be more in my wheelhouse.

Any general advice for a designer that is interviewing for an Art Director position?

I just got an email from an agency that I interviewed with early this year about an open position (a more senior role, this time) that they think I’d be a good fit for. Weird thing is, last time they rejected me in favor of someone with more experience. How do I go about this? Do I mention the rejection? It’s a different recruiter at the same agency.

I’m in a job I don’t like that much and had a promising conversation with a recruiter about a role that I’d be great for and I’d enjoy a ton yesterday who told me they wanted me to meet the team.

Haven’t heard back from them in 24 hours and I’m now assuming I’ve been ghosted, which would be an insane assumption if it weren’t so common in our industry.

I've been stagnant in my job after the first 3 months since I started. I've constantly asked for more work/tasks to learn more with the promise "it's coming" but it never does. I'm over a year and few months in my role and I'm checked out. I'm not even interested anymore as now I'm ready to leave and find another place where my growth matters outside of just words.

Ever have an interview so bad you felt almost good about it?
The recruiter started our conversation venting about a referral who was grossly under qualified.
This immediately shifted to the agency does not follow industry standard titles. They are all very senior...so I should consider a much more junior role (they hadn't talked more about the role at hand).
After talking of my experience they then summed me up as a "media person" and I had to correct that I never worked at a media agency.

About to start a new client side role in a few weeks that will be fully remote. Anyone have advice for on boarding and getting used to a job when you’re fully remote?

Do you think people are getting promoted more easily right now? I know two juniors that got mid level roles before hitting the one year mark in their current role (and in the industry). One in particular I didn’t think was that good of a writer but ended up at a pretty big agency…is this common?

I don’t ever want to be a CD. It would just be too much stress, pressure, and politics for me to handle. But how do you coast at a senior position forever without looking lazy/unmotivated?

I’m working on a short-term contract (I have less than 2 months left) & someone on the team I joined just quit. My boss is expecting me to ‘step up’ and cover her work. I don’t want to extend the contract long term (so don’t want to be a team player) & want to tell them no - they’re paying me for the old role, not the original role + the role I now need to cover.

How do I tackle this conversation?
