If you have a standing desk- is it worth it to spend ~$1000 on an Uplift type desk if you can afford it? Are they a lot better than $150 desks you can get on Amazon?

Is it rude to ask your firm to comp your standing desk?

Hi all. I have a medical condition (scoliosis). I have been told through a health assessment and psychotherapist that I need to purchase an ergonomic chair. My work have said they will provide me with a loan, but will not cover any expenses of it. My physiotherapist said that they should expense an amount of the chair as it is a reasonable adjustment for a medical condition. Any ideas on this and how I can go about trying to get some of it expenses? Thanks :)

My new firm is giving me a choice between PC or Mac. Work will be a lot of Excel, PPT, research, and video calls. Which should I get? I have two external monitors (Dell / Acer) but sounds like they would provide an extra monitor if I wanted.

Been offered a new position with another company recently, paying about $15,000 more per year. The job advertisement has stated that it’s a ghd rod work from home/office role which is handy and very similar to what my current company is allowing us to do.

However the contract has nothing in it stating working home is even an option. With fuel prices the way they are at the moment, plus mileage on my car, the fortnightly raise is only equivalent to approx $140 per week.

Is it worth it?

Does it look bad having a couch in your home office? It’s behind me so when I’m on camera/calls, you can see it about 5 feet behind me. Not one a bad looking one but a modern chaise style with a plant or something near it.

Need recommendations for a home office chair. My current one hurts my back.

Has anyone dealt with claiming a home office deduction for an active real estate activity? There was a case (Dr. Edwin Curphey), a couple decades ago, where the taxpayer was a dermatologist and actively managed a real estate business. He won the case that allowed the deduction. Would that require the RE business to be on Sch C? Or can the deduction be an "other expense" on Sch E?
