I used to be a happy guy, then over the past 5 years of being in public accounting I’ve gradually turned super cynical and hopeless. WFH has definitely added fuel to the fire because I’m super outgoing and vibe off of others. I’ve been actively looking for a new role but nothing good has come up for 6ish months. Any tips on how to get through the rest of busy season? I’m really struggling... to the point of almost crying daily. I told my manager and the firm doesn’t give AF apparently.

Starting a new job after 1 yr hiatus. Feeling nervous, anxious & looking for tips on how to approach making connections while WFH

Any tips on how to decide when to call it day when WFH? I feel like you could always keep on working but at some point esp when there is no tight deadline it doesn’t make sense. Really missing the team room vibe here...

How much does a “good” tax guy cost? Yes I know cost doesn’t necessarily = quality. My taxes have been complicated like most with WFH outside of NYC. Recommendations welcome, feel free to DM.

Tips for keeping a puppy busy while WFH with a busy day? I pull out the Kong & bully sticks, play with him to tire him out when I’m free, but he’s also not fully vaccinated so walks are limited

Is IT audit in the midst of WFH the most boring job in consulting?
I’m on IT audits and since covid it’s become horrible, at least before we got to go to the clients and chat with them, and have a team, afterworks etc. Now it’s just calls and gathering evidences and documenting. All of the fun part is gone. I feel like I’m getting depressed. It’s becoming painful to file evidences and I feel like it serves no point because the clients never follows the recommendations. I feel useless

Tips on salary negotiation? Currently interviewing for a smaller firm (would relocate to similar cost of living city once WFH ends). I know getting high comp when joining is key, what tips/experiences does everyone have? (Consultant level, 3 YOE, Digital)

How do you feel taking PIO? Today was my 4th day of taking it and I feel so tired all the time. I get chills and just don’t feel like getting up and doing my household work. Taking naps in between during work hours. Thanks to work from home. Is there any tips to feel better?

Does anyone experience leg or foot swelling due to sitting extended periods? I try to stand and move around but as of recently I’ve been experiencing swelling almost daily- which is strange since this hasn’t been an issue for most of the year of WFH. Any tips outside of just moving around? It kicks in as soon as an hour of straight sitting.

Anyone successfully kick a bad coffee habit? Tips? I love coffee but with WFH I’m consuming way too much.

Tips for making colleagues’ WFH easier/more tolerable?

Any recommendations on how to go to sleep at a normal time? My commute used to be almost 2 hours each way so I was up at 5:50am pre covid. Now that we are WFH, I don't have to be at my first meeting until like 8:30 everyday which means I wake up at 8:15😩I am not a morning person at all. During the week I sleep anywhere from 12-1 but def never earlier and a lot of the times even later than 1.I want to just be able to go to sleep early and wake up early instead of rolling out of bed into a meeting

Does anyone have any recommendations of places to rent an Airbnb/house to get a change of wfh scenery? Ideally somewhere scenic, like the mountains or near the water (not the bay), that's less than a 4 hour drive. After everything going on here, I'm looking to get out of DC for a couple weeks.

Our M has suddenly started assigning us firm initiative work, like creating account newsletters for the internal team. (Think about a long email with tips about WFH, exercise, hobbies, and other nonsense). We've tried to politely tell him we have project work to address and that the new monthly newsletter is frankly not a priority and that it's impeding billable work. He has screwed team members over during reviews for but listening to everything he says. I'm really not sure what to do. Advice?
