Is Slack a good company to work at?

Anyone else start off the day on track with a workout and nice healthy breakfast and it goes downhill from there and by 4pm you're between zoom calls it's peak snack o'clock? How not to mid day binge?

Tried Facebook Rooms yesterday for a call. It was good until the sound cut out. Hangouts has terrible video quality. Zoom has a 40 minute limit for the fee version. Skype is so 2019. What’s your video conference platform of choice including Pros and cons?

Does not drinking influence your career prospects? Team wants to have a virtual happy hour, I don't want to be "that guy"

I’m in charge of running a virtual happy hour. What are some good games to play with a group of 12?

I keep hearing people on calls mispronounce names and it always makes me sad. In the spirit of cultural diversity and learning, can we start a list of hard to pronounce (or just commonly mispronounced) names and their phonetic spelling? For example:
Anais = an-nah-EES
Saoirse = SER-sha
Sonja = Son-ya

Maybe we can help someone feel a bit more comfortable since it can be so hard or awkward to correct someone especially during webex calls 🙃

Any long term holders of Slack(WORK) ?

I did a first date with a guy over zoom after we’d be texting for a few weeks. Thought it went well and his comments toward the end got my hopes up there’d be a second date. But he ignored me when I texted him a couple days later. I’m really sad/disappointed and I feel so stupid that I’m upset at all because we’ve never even met 😔

Saddest part of people quitting before was seeing their name/email disappear from Outlook/Skype/Zoom/etc.. guess I’ll be seeing a lot more of that in the coming weeks 😢

Extroverts, how are you coping? I feel like so much of what I liked about my job (client interactions, building relationships, etc.) is now gone. What used to energize me for work is gone and I haven’t figured out a workaround.

I’m trying to fill my need for interaction through zoom calls and virtual game nights, but it’s been 70+ days and those aren’t cutting it anymore.

What are good questions to ask before starting a job? Culture is non-existent now with remote but I could ask about comms style maybe (ie skype/teams vs. Email)? Should I ask about typical hours or will that have me perceived as a lazy worker? What Qs will prep me best for a non-consulting environment?

Since we are in the business of branding and marketing, what happened to Skype? They did a lot of award-winning work around the world. But during this pandemic everyone immediately went to zoom, who has never done noticeable marketing. Does anyone know how or why? Tell me before my account people explain how award winning wrk doesn’t work again.

Anyone have friends who forget about their friends when they start dating? After 6 months I finally got on a zoom call with that friend, and literally 20 min in she leaves saying her bf got pulled over by the cops and she needs to go comfort him. 🤦‍♀️

To any 🐠 that have done a “first date” over zoom, FaceTime, etc: What was your experience like? Anyone have a bad experience where you ended up not liking the other person and stopped pursuing them after?

Is it unfair to be annoyed that when a co worker always asks me to schedule meeting for him (he doesn’t have Webex I guess) and sends pings in succession about issues directly happening to him...but when I ask one thing of him, he doesn’t respond even after following up twice. Feels a little unfair I go out of my way a lot to assist but seems like it’s not the other way around.

Zoom interview tips?

I’ve been taking an art class on zoom and tbh, I don’t like the instructor much. I’ll explain why below. But in our class yesterday, she said she had to mute herself for a second because her (insert race) neighbors were arguing. “But they’re really nice,” according to her. It really bothered me. Should I let it go or speak up?

Hey foreigners. I think my accent is getting on the way of getting my ideas across sometimes, and that is starting to make me more insecure and anxious. Specially now that I have to talk over zoom. Any of you used an accent reducing coach or something similar with success?

Anyone made the move from an Ad Agency to a Start-Up? I’m currently interviewing and it seems exciting but very different to what I’m used to. The interview process alone has been going on for four weeks. One hour zoom meetings at a time with different stakeholders. A world apart from the jokey, casual vibe of an Ad Agency Creative job interview where they’re much more interested in your portfolio.

Any ideas for individual counseling zoom activities?

How many calls have you had on Teams/Zoom/Skype/Webex etc? I'm wondering how many hours of my life were spent on "can everyone please go on mute" and "let's take it offline" 😬
