I'm a little bit under two years in my HR career. I was hired on full time has an HR Generalist and I want to start studying for my SHRM-CP, but I'm a little bit intimidated on how to start. Any advice would be helpful. So far I am going to get SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification All-in-One Exam Guide by Dory Willer on Amazon. Are there free online tests to take that are comparable to the exam?
As a company we are looking at going digital with our employee personnel and medical files etc. What are some of the ways you have done that? Any advice/recommended process?
To hr professionals in finance..I’m considering getting an online certificate through Cornell in data/analytics. Worth it or do employers think it’s equivalent to Coursera?
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
You’re constantly showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? I started an initiative to coach HR/people leaders because I know what it’s like to be doing all the things for everyone else with little support or focus on your own well-being, growth and development. It’s a lonely game! I’d be delighted to create the space to make you a priority. Would love to offer a free session, or simply connect: https://www.chrisrollins.me/peopleleaders.
Need to define diverse talent metrics to create a scorecard. Challenge is that the available data is based on opting in/out of self identification, that data point can change dramatically YOY. Any recommendations on metrics and scorecard?
How long do you typically allow for self assessments and manager assessments for year-end? This year we gave employees a week and managers 3 weeks (holidays not included), but they still said it wasn’t long enough even though most waited until the very last day to complete them.
Now that networking events are virtual and limited opportunity for face to face meetings - how are new leads being generated besides website traffic. How do you "network" at virtual meetings and presentations?
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
What is salary range for experienced Tax MD from Big 4 at mid-tier firm like BDO? Anyone made the move? Regrets? Recommendations? advice for offer negotiations?
Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a one-stop-shop learning management system, payroll and benefits platform and applicant tracking system? If not, can anyone propose two cost-efficient platforms that integrate well with one another? Company size: 250-500 employees
Question for you sales and saas guys. I work for a fast growing startup and we are billing around 200 K a month. I am in charge of the sales team and our CFO mandates that we collect ACH payment information on every agreement. The problem with this is we have to reel in micro deposit amounts from customers and it feels like herding cats. I’ve worked for three great tech companies and I’ve never had ACH nor have I ever paid for services with ACH. Is this a totally dated process?
Hello, curious to know what other companies do for employee spotlights besides the traditional email blast to the company. Any recommendations to better the experience for employees?
What is the HR culture at Facebook? Thinking I’d responding to a FB recruiter email to interview. I interviewed for a role a few months back, made it to on-site was rejected. Want to know what the pace, collaboration is like among peers.
I’m trying to help people make the most out of every and any interview they are able to schedule right now. Which aspect of the interview process are you seeing fall apart most?
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Vent Post. Dealing with imposter syndrome and feeling like I’m not good enough. It appears that there’s been a collapse with effective communication due to the pandemic and I’m feeling drained with Zoom/Teams meetings. Hoping to get back into the office soon.
I-140 and I-485 were both filed today, the former with premium processing. Lawyers said there’s 12-18 months wait still. How is this possible? Why does this process suck so much?
Do you approach interviewing the same as you do dating? Basically, if they liked you they would make an effort to contact you and not vice versa? Had an interview on Friday and still haven’t heard anything back. Company was looking to hire someone immediately. Wondering if I should reach out or assume they’re not interested.
So turns out going in house was the best career move I’ve ever made! The stress of billable hours anchored unhappiness in my life and I recognized it but it took a six month job search to find the right in house role. Does anyone have any recommended organizations to join to connect with other in house counsel?
Are there generally more PMM roles at tech companies than strategy roles? What about specifically for MBA recruiting?
People who are interviewing, applying etc. for EY's Transformation Design & Execution practice... WE ARE A PMO PRACTICE. I have been in this practice for 5+ years now. We changed our name from 'Program Management' practice to TD&E last year. 65-75% of our work is vanilla PMO work. Please don't let anyone, especially the recruiter, fool you with anything else. If you are interested in PMO, this is THE place for you. Not otherwise.
Deloitte H1B consultants (others too) who’ve been laid off recently and received a salary continuation - Have you been able to view your employment verification letters? Need to know what are the dates mentioned there - last date of service or last date of salary continuation or both? Asking for visa purposes. Feel free to direct message to discuss. Thanks
Anyone on here in Federal Audit with a clearance? Do you feel like you’re stuck on your client and unable to switch clients unless you move firms? Thoughts....?
@Creatives working from home. You’re waiting for next steps/feedback. Do you charge your hourly rate for that waiting time?
My H1B extension expiring Dec 2021 My firm seems not to be bothered to start GC process for I-140 Is it too late or I have time??
If you had a call for 12/4 on slack with a strike of 36 you would’ve been up 61,200% - if only hahaha this is actually wild
Does it financially make sense to get your MBA through GSAP? I know the pay bump and bonus are substantial after you come back, but no salary for 2 years + living expenses sounds rough.
In Texas. If my extension is filed and my i94/visa expires in 2-3 weeks , how to get extension on Driving license as it is tied to i94 expiration?Should we use i797 for this ?
Would you ask for a higher pay at a startup, due to the company not having a pension scheme for its employees?
On this flight there is a Hasidic Jew, a super traditional Muslim couple, and a weird rancher / cowboy (though he could just be a hipster...unconfirmed) Kind of cool all these ppl can fly together!
