I want to get my masters in HR, but I also want to get my phr.. is it better to get one over the other? Or should I do both. Are there any masters hr program someone can recommend?

I joined fishbowl a month ago and while I’ve seen a couple contentious debates but I must say I’m pleasantly surprised at how respectfully ppl comment on this app even when disagreeing. Usually anonymity on the internet brings out the absolute worst in ppl; they type things anonymously that they would NEVER say in person smh. But I really haven’t seen horrible comments here. I wonder what makes this app diff frm others?

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?

Do you need a degree to get hired with a Pharmaceutical company? I have over 20 years plus in sales. I know I could be an asset to any pharmaceutical company.

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

Anyone here work in-house and sit in an open office environment? I sit next to accounts receivable and some marketing folks and can’t focus even with earplugs in. Any advice would help.

Hi everyone, what metrics are used by a talent acquisition team to identify insights on their activities to be able to start conversations within the team or other interlinked departments.

More than just metrics like time to hire, cost of hire, demographics, I'd like to hear what data is collected and monitored or measured to get insights on talent acquisition activities.

Any advice for dealing with difficult judges? Obviously I don’t expect judge to agree with me on everything, but a few of them just make me want to pull my hair out.

Do you still implement reference checks (on top of background checks)? I’m not convinced of the value add to the selection process and it takes a lot of time and resources

What are your policies regarding consuming alcohol at company events? Do you have a process when someone is too drunk - call a Lyft/Uber? Confiscate keys? Are there any repercussions to the employee as the event is technically after hours even if company sponsored?

Coming up on one full year at an ID firm. Feeling overwhelmed with my experience so far. I’ve received minimal training/feedback unless it was on something I messed up. It feels like the expectations don’t align with my level of experience. I have a case load of 45-55 with very little oversight or involvement from partners. Turnover is extremely high, as I’m the second longest tenured associate in the office. Looking for some guidance on whether this is the norm or not. Compensation is low 80’s.

I’m curious - let’s say you have a role to fill but they are targeting only female candidates to balance out the team. What recruiting strategies can i implement to meet those needs?

What’s the best way to get out of small law? I am a junior partner and don’t want to be running a law firm by myself in 5-10 years. The mid-level partners are not business-savvy so I don’t see myself wanting to partner with them either. I want to move to a larger firm.

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

How many of y'all actually write things down? A lot of people are into Notion etc but I've never found a use for note apps, even for things like shopping lists and recipes. I take notes at work but don't write for my personal life.
