Any strategies or resources you could recommend for getting rid of the dreaded annual performance review (or at least lessening the dread) and creating a more effective year round performance feedback system? Our review is currently tied to our end of year bonuses and merit increases, so not sure I could get rid of it entirely. This would be for hourly and management employees, all working on-site.

I gave notice for my first associate position last week and the managing partner is making my life a living hell. Is this normal? What kind of notice do we need to give to quit? I am an associate in a smallish firm, 10 admin or paralegals, 4 attorneys and the owner attorney, who doesn’t actually practice but considers himself a rainmaker. He just brings in all the business, and piles the work on us. Problem is he will take any case if he thinks they can pay, and he only cares about the new money coming in the door. We are all overworked and overwhelmed to the point that we are missing things and making mistakes.
