Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

I would say it does just take time to learn their style. Do you have regular 1:1 meetings? I think it would be a fair conversation for you to have with them. “I am struggling to figure out our swim lanes…can you help me understand what you want me to be doing vs you to avoid any duplicative efforts?”
It might be very different between accounts.
I just joined about two weeks ago on this new account and due to craziness of schedules we haven’t set up a 1:1 yet, but will!
I should mention the new account actually is managed by our VP (not an AD), so I’m just slightly intimidated on how to best work with no AD in between us. I can’t harp on the VP too much because she has 40 other account people reporting to her ha
You mentioned that you've been asking questions about responsibilities - did you get any answers?
Sure, it takes time to get to know each other's working styles but they do also have a responsibility to set some clear expectations, e.g. who's leading a meeting before you both join one.
I like the doing low stakes tasks approach! I will give it a shot. I said this earlier but because she’s head of our dept I probably am more gun shy than normal but I should just push past that. Thanks for your insight!
I was in the exact situation. Sometimes asking isnt as effective as just doing. Start answering a few emails where you’re unsure who it should be or taking lead on a call and you’ll get the answer you’re looking for from the VP/AD. That’s what I did and it all became very clear.
Thank you - this is great advice.
Try finding (or creating) a RACI chart to answer these concerns, and make sure it's signed off by your VP, the ADs, and all other relevant stakeholders.
